Well, I can think of one that was intentionally built to look this way, merging two types of structures together. One of the Integris buildings up on NW Expwy combines both of the glass and brick look from older existing structures into one building...... but it was not a rebuild on an older building.

Actually you could appreciate that building a little more if you saw the campus prior to its construction. The (I think) physicians building at the left edge is a solid mirrored glass cube. It was dropped into the mix right in the middle of a lot of brick buildings, and instantly looked odd and misplaced. The construction of this building righted that wrong and visually tied the two styles together nicely. I'm glad Bellaboo posted that, because I have previously thought of that precise building during this discussion. I'm not holding it up as an example of great architecture; it is first and foremost a commercial hospital building. But it WAS thoughtfully designed in the way that it bridged the gap between two eras of architecture on the campus.

That Integris building looks better in person than in that picture (maybe the lighting on the brick?). I drive by it several times a week and I've always thought it is done well for what it is...

Another Comparison could be Chesapeake arena. butting Glass against Brick seems to be a lot about making the colors of the two material jive more than anything else.

That is a gorgeous space. Cool design details, as well.

    From the Gazette:

Keith Paul and his posse are the bee’s knees, the cat’s pajamas, good eggs — A Good Egg Dining Group, to be precise.

The company, of which Paul is a co-founder and co-owner, has refurbished an old downtown building to house Kitchen No. 324, named for its address, 324 N. Robinson.

The eatery is scheduled to open late this month.

Historically, A Good Egg reimagines historic buildings as restaurants — Cheever’s and Red PrimeSteak, most notably — then makes it happen.

A 3,500-square-foot space in the Braniff Building has been converted into a cafe and bakery. Kitchen No. 324 will feature approximately 50 kinds of baked goods — including bread, scones, cookies and muffins — as well as small-batch coffees.

Paul said he believed downtown Oklahoma City needed a place that cared passionately about both baked goods and artisanal coffee.

“When we travel, we find these places in other cities,” he said, “We’ve always been attracted to downtown.”

The cafe will feature an “ever-changing menu” in addition to the baked goods, according to Paul. Ingredients will be sourced locally as much as possible.

Inside, the restaurant is open-concept, so diners can watch the chefs and bakers at work. Seating capacity is 88, but more will be available outside, with patio furniture planned for spring.

Kitchen No. 324 will be open seven days a week: from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on weekdays, and from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekends.

What? No dinner service? Surely this must be bad reporting.

This building is arguably going to be my favorite building in downtown, I absolutely love it. And I took a peak in today, kitchens looking real neat. You can start to picture how the atmosphere will be like once it's done.

I guess I understand them not rushing into dinner service, but that looks like a serious destination space; would make a fabulous dinner locale. Hopefully they will see the wisdom of having dinner service soon.

Kitchen No. 324 looks absolutely fantastic. Hope I can try it while I'm there in a couple weeks!

Wish they would at least stay open a little later on Sunday for brunch...

They'd better step up hiring if those are all of the trainees they have.

Seriously though, that space screams "city" like few if any places we have in downtown or elsewhere. Fantastic addition to OKC. As a downtowner I also echo other posters in hoping they will explore expanded hours and mealtime offerings after they get their initial business established. I would be a regular.

The last reported opening date was December but more recent news has just said 'winter'.

But if they are training their staff, they must be very close to at least a soft opening.

The rest of the building is still months away, however.

This, possibly the most cosmopolitan space in the city.
