I'm in the 3rd most robbed area... guess that explains my missing lawn mower.

I wonder how the "open carry" law will affect these stats?

I'm sure you don't have to wonder too much - as other states have shown it won't have any measurable impact either way.

.... Yeah, they all have a start off "731" - certainly you weren't going another direction were you?

It's interesting to bounce that report against this zip code statistical data:

    http://www.city-data.com/zipmaps/Okl...-Oklahoma.html

A lot of those "dangerous" zips are in areas with very low median home prices, but not all of them are... at least one or two had medians of $150k. The demographics of each area were different. There were not a lot of geographic similarities between them.

One thing I noticed that they all had in common? They are some of the most populated zip codes in the metro.

These are the only zip codes with larger populations that did not make it to KOCO's dangerous list:

    73110 35,703
    73120 38,380
    73159 30,428
    73160 44,177

That makes me wonder... is KOCO using raw data that is not per capita, meaning this information's value is questionable, or is the data per capita and this therefore is showing a direct link in our city between crime and population density?

"I'm in the 3rd most robbed area... guess that explains my missing lawn mower."

    Why would anyone steal a lawnmower . . .?
That sounds too much like work (fer cryin' out loud).
It would be like stealing a sledgehammer or an anvil . . .
    or a shovel . . .

    On a related note . . .
I poked around on some links associated with this topic (safe and unsafe neighborhoods) and was surprised to learn that OKC is only safer than 3% of the cities in the survey (by some InternetRealtorCartel).

At least our lawns are apparently well kept.
And we have a lot of pawn shops and fences.

"There are lies, there are damned lies and there are statistics.
and then there are lawnmower thieves."

The crazy part, crazier than stealing a push mower, is they left the grass catcher and the charger for the electric start sitting next to it. Nobody said robbers were smart.

Haha, crap. I grew up in 73119, and I live in 73127 now.

I felt pretty safe living in 97223.
