Thread: Cops between NW 150th and NW 164th on Pennsylvania

I live off 164th and Penn and it is extremely annoying that they haven't taken down the 30 mph signs yet. I have to catch myself on occasion and slow down since there is simply no reason for the low speed limit. The way I see it, the absolute only reason it is still 30 mph is so they can continue to rob people of their money. I guess the traffic cops have their quotas to meet.

If people simply think the limit should be higher, that doesn't qualify.
I'm glad you at least agree about turn signals. Many drivers don't know what they are.
OK, you and I apparently define driving stupidly completely differently- you seem so absolutely obsessed with obeying all traffic laws, whether or not they're valid traffic laws, it's amazing, and you seem to define any variation from any traffic law as stupid. I don't see it that way. You also seem to define speed trap much more narrowly than most people I know (and most definitions I've read), so we'll never agree on that. We can go around and around and around and around about it, but nothing will change, so I'm done here.

    well...construction isn't completed.

There have been workers working every day this week. Still sidewalk work and curb work. They won't take the signs down until the work is complete. Seems reasonable to me. It's one mile...just do 30 and relax.

I'll admit I don't drive there unless out of necessity and won't until they take the 30 MPH signs down, but the times I have driven there since all the lanes have been opened, I have only seen workers doing anything *once*. My wife drives on it later on the day (she works a different shift than the regular 9-5), and she hasn't seen much happening at all, if anything (she usually tells me if they're doing anything and she's mentioned it once or twice). And as I've said before, it's not the speed limit, it's the pattern I've seen with the city (or their contractors) leaving slower speed limit signs up longer than necessary for safety reasons and way more cops than usual ticketing people. (happened on both May and Western during their construction) And as I've said before, I'm not sure if the cops see it as a happy coincidence the signs are up and are enhancing revenue, if the cops have been ordered to patrol that stretch more often, or ....

If you're still working on sidewalks, do you really need to make a whole mile-plus long stretch of road a lower speed limit? Not really, IMO, as I see plenty of sidewalk work being done with little more than a few cones on the sidewalk area (not in the road, or any lane closure at all, unless it's for the concrete truck pouring). As far as curbs go, it appears they've been done with curbs for weeks - if you've actually seen workers working on curbs, then I can't disagree with that, but I'm not sure what was still left to do on the curbs.
