I went in to pay and a young man came running in behind me to inform me that I had just filled my diesel fuel tank with gasoline! Instead of looking at the pump carefully, I assumed the green meant the same there as it does here. Wrong! Four hours and almost 300 Euros later (not counting the gasoline dumped on the ground), I was on the road again. I know this thread is not about diesel, but since it was brought up, I thought I would mention my little experience. I have over 15,000 miles in the U. K. on diesel and that's the only problem I have had.

Great to know. I'm heading to Italy for two weeks in June and will be renting car which may end up being diesel and would have assumed the green hose was the same.
