If transportation was left to private sector across the board (road, railroads, airlines, etc) everyone would still be walking. You can't say that passenger rail should only be delivered by the private sector and then at the same time continue the huge multi-trillion dollar automobile subsidy. When Delta builds their own airport in OKC and GM builds their own roads then we can talk about passenger rail being private. Until then, government (preferably local and state) has to build the infrastructure.
