BP oil spill biblical prophecy?

I'm not stating this is my personal belief, but lots of discussion is popping up everywhere in the secular world about it being possible. I've heard it more in the secular rhelm than I've heard in the Christian sector. Just food for thought. Here is one of many articles on it.

Yeah, but I just find it ironic that most of the articles I find on the internet about it are from seculars and agnostics, not lunatic right wingers. They are primarily referring to Revelation 8:8. Revelation 8:8-11 (Today's New International Version)

Just imagine you are John on the Island of Patmos, almost 2000 years ago. If you had seen what we now recognize as the burning explosion of an oil rig in the middle of the sea, what would you describe it as? Or imagine you were witnessing an oil spill about 2000 years into the future. With your current knowledge at that time how would you describe what the oil looked like on the water? Coagulated blood?
