Default New Comic Shop in Edmond

Just noticed a comic shop opened up on Edmond Road (2nd Street) near Kelly. A.I. Comics. Since the last shop closed down a couple of years ago, I've been driving 25 minutes to the next closest comic/toy/games place. Don't know if anyone else cares, but I'm pretty happy.

Small place, but for some place new, it seems pretty cool. Met the owners, and they seemed nice, too.

Is there really that big a market for something like this for it to be profitable?

The market's better than you'd think. I love my weekly trip to nerd heaven. Glad to hear someone's serving the Edmond area.

You and the chaps from Big Bang Theory. The scenes play so well, I suspect the actors and the writers visit nerd heaven often.

Well, that's why I figure a comic shop has to do more than comics. Toys, games, t-shirts, posters, etc... With Edmond being a college town, you'd think there'd be some support. Norman has like 3 comic shops, but Edmond hasn't had any until recently? What's up with that? You'd think the disposable income in Edmond would support a shop well.

Either way, I'm happy. No more driving to OKC to spend my "nerd" money.

Thanks! Will check it out. Since ACTION COMICS closed, it's good to know there's someplace new to buy my WALKING DEAD comics.

So help a noob out...what are some good comic series these days?

The Walking Dead, Ultimate Spider-Man (actually the entire Ultimate line is pretty good), Morning Glories, Punisher Max, Invincible Iron Man, The Stand and The Boys. If none of the things on the new release shelf appeals to you then check out the trade paperbacks. There's a ton of really good old stuff to be had.

Thanks ddavidson8!! What are trade paperbacks?

They're just the regular comics collected into a paperback format. Nowadays comic series have stories that can last anywhere from 6 to 12 issues. Once that "run" is over they are collected into a paperback edition and sold at a slightly lower price.

I forgot about Superior by Mark Millar. It's probably the best comic on the stands right now.
