  • Conversion will bring downtown market

Two historic buildings are set to be remodeled into a culinary marketplace, office space, apartments, and 6 pickleball courts on top of covered parking.

The main (south) building 3-story was built in 1926 and was once home to Chevrolet Motors in Automobile Alley just north of downtown. The most recent use was Stow's Office Furniture.

The marketplace will feature about a dozen businesses including coffee, ice cream, pizza, chocolate, pasta cajun, tacos, a butcher, a large bar, and a classroom for cooking classes. There will be substantial seating indoors and on a large patio. In addition to dine-in, the facility will serve as a large downtown food store.

24 apartments will be on two levels above the marketplace.

Collectively, the project is known as Medley.

The northern building will be converted to covered parking and a large glass and steel structure will form a second level with 6 pickleball courts and a full bar at the center.

    Work should start soon.
