  • Nuway Cleaners complex being demolished

The sprawling former Nuway cleaners property at N. Western and Linwood is in the process of being demolished.

Originally constructed in 1919, the complex saw many expansions and additions culminating in over 77,000 square feet. It was purchased by Love Link in 2005 to expand the nonprofit's ministries as they added a food pantry and thrift store.

In 2021, Shyon Keoppel and Millennial Capital purchased the property and announced plans for extensive renovations which never materialized.

Sue Ann Arnall's foundation recently purchased the complex along with the buildings to the south. Arnall donated the land to the City for the MAPS Diversion Hub now under construction to the immediate west.

Arnall and the City now own this entire block which will become a campus for social services. Arnall also owns the small building to the west of the Diversion Hub and it's in the process of being renovated. Sue Ann Arnall is the ex-wife of billionaire oil and gas magnate Harold Hamm and received a $975 million divorce settlement in 2014.

The Arnall Family Foundation is "Passionately focused on criminal justice reform and finding solutions that lower the incarceration rate and racial disparity impacting people of color in Oklahoma jails and prisons. The Foundation also works to create systemic change in the areas of youth welfare and justice, homelessness, and historically under-resourced communities."

Work started earlier this year on the $13 million Diversion Hub which will provide greatly expanded facilities and has the goal of reducing Oklahoma’s high incarceration rate by moving individuals from jails to diversion programs, which provide life-stabilizing resources and assistance.

Since the Nuway property falls outside any design review district, demolition in Oklahoma City only requires a simple permit with no formal review.
