OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – January 11, 2017 — After dinner tonight, Bricktown West will close their
doors permanently at their Sheridan Avenue and Mickey Mantel Drive location.
“The closure of Bricktown West comes after serious and heartfelt consideration. We have loved our
time in Bricktown; the people we have served, the memories we have been a part of and the honor of
representing Oklahoma City to those that visit and call Oklahoma home,” says Co-Owner Rick
Haynes. “The entire discussion came up as the progression plans for Bricktown and the street car
system construction on Sheridan Avenue has crept closer. We are very excited about the future of
Oklahoma City, but at this time we have been forced to make a tough business decision.”
Mr. Haynes said “with the inconvenience of tonight’s closing, we will gladly make lateral reservation at
one of our sister restaurants; the original West (on Western), Urban Johnnie (located just north of
Deep Deuce on 2nd street) or any other local restaurant that fulfills the needs of our loyal customers.”
Employees will have an opportunity to transfer their employment to one of the other properties within
the Restaurant Concepts family; West, Urban Johnnie, Johnnie’s or Johnnie’s Express. “We are
thankful for our employees and we don’t want them to feel stranded without any employment”.
Haynes went on to add, “We have lived a dream being a part of Bricktown and in such a historic
building. We have loved every minute and look forward to seeing our trusted customers where it all
started, at the original West.”
Restaurant Concepts, owned and operated by brothers David and Rick Haynes, maintain the original
West (on Western), Urban Johnnie, Johnnie’s and Johnnie’s Express. Johnnie’s recently celebrated
their 45th Anniversary in the eight (8) metro locations and carries on a strong tradition started by the
brothers’ father, Johnnie Haynes.

West in Bricktown to suspend operations; building owner seeking new concept
The decision by local restauranteur Rick Haynes to suspend operations at West in Bricktown has not dampened the enthusiasm for the potential of this popular corner at Sheridan and Mickey Mantle said the building’s owner Avis Scaramucci, a Bricktown pioneer and passionate advocate.
"We will use this time to consider new entertainment and restaurant options for this iconic corner in Bricktown," Scaramucci said. "We see this as an opportunity to revisit several concepts discussed over the past two years and reopen conversations we’ve had with several attractive national operators."
The opening this year of the Steelyard residential apartment complex will strengthen the business climate because it will bring an energetic segment of the market to Bricktown to live, play and work, Scaramucci said.
"We operated a successful restaurant at this prime location for many years. Couple the strong history with the booming tourism and hotel landscape in Bricktown, and it’s obvious the future is bright," Scaramucci said.
The MAPS 3 Streetcar will have a stop in front of Painted Door gift boutique adjoining the restaurant. A dedicated Bricktown Loop will make it ultra-convenient for downtown businesspeople to visit Bricktown and further enhance the building as a vibrant retail and restaurant destination.
Scaramucci commended the City of Oklahoma City for its outreach to businesses in preparation for the start of construction. "Progress always comes at a price, but a few days of construction is a small price to pay for the tremendous economic impact of a streetcar stop. The City is doing a fantastic job communicating with us and setting the construction schedule based on our needs."
