Thread: Really good breakfast place

  1. #1

    Default Really good breakfast place

Outside of Jimmy's Egg, where is a really good breakfast place to take out of town guests?

  2. Default Re: Really good breakfast place

Weekdays? Nic's Grill on 11th and N. Penn. Best omelet in town.

Weekends? Hungry Frog, iHop, Cafe Antigua, Ingrid's, and Classen Grill.

Classen Grill is the place you're looking for to take someone from out of town. Doesn't look like much from the outside, or inside for that matter, but the food is amazing.

I like to go to Jeff's Country Cafe sometimes, but I wouldn't take an out of town guest there..Same for the *new* Beverly's.

Never been, but I know of a guy who swears by Hungry Frog on a weekend morning.

Second Classen Grill and Hungry Frog. There are also a few breakfast plates at Cafe do Brasil that I love too! and you can't beat that great building and the delicious Quiche

Could say the same for the Hungry Frog and Nics as well but both are good food.

Joey's 122nd and N. May. Also I believe Cattleman's is overated for dinner but order from menu (not buffet) for b'fast and it is good.

Ozzie's in Norman at Maz W airfield, and probably most other airparks which also serve a breakfast.

IHOP is never good on the weekends - too crowded. I vote IHOP for weekdays. I used to like Coltrane Cafe, but they closed. There's a new place open there now, but I haven't been there yet. I have been the Cattlemen's for breakfast and I'll second that recommendation.

I've been to the place that opened in the Coltrane Cafe, it was not good and so slow I could have walked to Jimmy's Egg and finished breakfast sooner. I guess it should have been a hint when the waitress said "you're not in a hurry are you?" right before she said "we're out of biscuits" at 10:30 on a Sunday morning.

Thanks for that tip. That's too bad. Coltrane was good. Anybody here been to Colby's Diner? Around the Corner is supposed to be good, but I didn't care for the place.

  20. Default Re: Really good breakfast place

Colby's is a decent, very relaxed family restaurant.

Around the Corner in Edmond is hard to beat, but Classen Grill does it every day. Clean, excellently prepared food, a great menu. Not every restaurant can boast a legitimate chef at breakfast, but the Classen Grill can.

In the past, the Patio had the best breakfast, hands down. Too bad it's gone.

I've been off of classen grill lately, especially since they changed their hashbrowns. I liked them when they were small.
