Air Force “Shades of Blue” Jazz Ensemble sets City concert date

The United States Air Force Band of Mid-America Shades of Blue Jazz Ensemble will visit Oklahoma City May 14 for an outdoor concert at Will Rogers Park, NW 36th and Portland. The concert will start at 6:30 p.m.

Shades of Blue is an 18-piece big band with a diverse repertoire of traditional swing, bebop, modern jazz, vocal selections, as well as traditional patriotic music. They pay frequent tribute to the Air Force’s musical heritage, and have collaborated with several modern jazz greats, as well as with actor Wilford Brimley on a highly-acclaimed salute to Major Glenn Miller.

The May 14 performance is free to the public. No tickets or reservations are required, and picnics are welcome.

The Shades of Blue Jazz ensemble is being welcomed by the City of Oklahoma City’s Parks and Recreation Department. For more information, call (405) 239-2211.
