Mysterious Gash in the Earth

Anyone have any thoughts to the cause, by the looks of the photos this is a pretty serious event.

So they say it was a landslide but where did it slide away to? That is a lot of missing material so there should be a debris field somewhere near by.

Could you imagine that happening in front of you? it looks like something right out of a movie.....

Looks like a water table issue. With the mega drought out west, that mega aquifer is lower than it's been as long as we've been monitoring it. When the water supporting the subsurface is low, the support is gone. Then land like that simply falls in.

I was going to post the same thing. Obviously it's not, but if someone doesn't know what you're talking about they should google "Yellowstone Caldera" or "Yellowstone supervolcano" for a good dose of existential terror.

If the YC blew you know it would set off the New Madrid and pretty much adios USA. Plus another Ice Age for the world. I was making light of it earlier but every time I hear about something like this it is one thought that pops into my head. Honestly, if you have not read about these caldera's. please do.
