It appears as if enough pools are open to serve OKC's populace. Which pools are not opening this year? I noticed sellars was not on the list you posted. Is Sellars closed for good?

Looks like most of the shallow pools are history. I'm surprised EB Jeffrey is staying open. I thinkt he surrounding community might have pitched in some donations to keep it open, if I remember right.

Anyways, I think we need to invest in summer entertainment for our children like shallow pools.

Many years ago, there used to be a lot more for kids to do during the summer. We had amusement parks kids could actually afford to go to (Wedgewood and Springlake), tons of neighborhood swimming pools, and more lakes to swim in. Over the years, OKC has lost its quality of life by leaving this strategy behind.

Why don't you see public pools on the NW side of the city? NW 16th is NOT what I'd consider NW of the city.

Good question. I think in an upcoming bond issue or maybe even the next MAPS, if we have a MAPS for Neighborhoods or something like that, we need to consider building a huge aquatic center on the far north side of the city. Will Rogers is about as far north as it gets.

I suppose there is a pool at Macklanburg Park, but it's simply a pool. We need a nice aquatic center on the north side of town, similar to Earlywine.

I consider Will Rogers to be more centrally located.

I was watching the City Council Meeting on Cityvue20 tonight. The various departments were presenting their budget proposals to the council. Sam Bowman suggested that all the play in the park sites have spraygrounds installed. The council also discussed the possibilty of adding more parks like earlywine.

From the sound of the discussion this could become a bond issue item in the future.

Can anyone say MAPS for Neighborhoods? Or a similar bond issue? I think Sam Bowman is on the right track here.
