    Northeast OKC The Corridor

A new mixed-use development is being planned for the land north of I-44 and Lincoln.

That's really cool. Too bad, at least at the moment, there's no immediate access to Lincoln as to perhaps get to the Homeland or what not or maybe state employees looking to move closer.

Once again a development that is completely segregated from the rest of the city ignoring streets that it could tie into.

That can be solved if the city or state builds a new bridge over I-44 to connect Santa Fe. That combined with a new trail will add more connections for this area.

^^^ I think it’s because they want it to be a secluded neighborhood, most rich people like to live that way.

Might not be as disconnected as you guys are thinking.

I may be imagining things but it looks like they have a planned connection here.

Pete, any clue who is behind this?

I did see that was wondering about it. Hopefully it will connect to the neighborhood. I know it's kind of a petty thing to gripe about. The one thing I wholeheartedly agree with urbanists one is the disconnect of subdivisions. I don't mind cul de sacs but I can't count the number of dead end streets that should connect to a nearby neighborhood and don't. It reduces the need for residents to travel from one neighborhood to the next from having to go a mile out of the way on arterial roads and is better for EMS responders.

If you have time here is an interesting video about it:

I really want to add, this seems like it will be a great development. I really appreciate how much green space the developer is building along with a nice landscaped median.

I'm surprised city staff didn't require the street connections to be made, they used to really dislike this and would make the developers tie back in unless there was a substantial street grade issue for connection. Also the zig zag by the south pond doesn't meet the city's criteria for minimum street centerline radius requirements. I would expect this layout might change when the preliminary plat is filed.

What is wrong with that land that it has not been developed to this point?

Is that the area north of Wildewood/Millwood/OKC Zoo just northeast of Remington Park & National Cowboy & Western Museum...

If so, it's a beautiful tree forest near the Deep Fork.

I think this is a couple miles west of where you are describing. Looks like it is east of Broadway Extension, south of 63rd and north of I-44 ish.

yeah, it looks to be immediately north of where Lincoln as a Boulevard interchanges into I-44.

Lack of access to NE 63rd Street, I-44, or Lincoln. Unless they connect it to the neighborhood to the north (which would cause an abundance of traffic in the neighborhood) the only street is a bypass/feeder street.
