Thread: Black Friday(ish) Sales/Sites

  1. Lightbulb Black Friday(ish) Sales/Sites

So for those looking for some good deals for gifts (either for others or themselves), this should help some. The main site that has had everything for about a month is: http://bfads.net/

A lot of the major retailers are doing their Black Friday stuff online starting today and through the weekend. Then we have Cyber Monday which should see some additional discounting. Not all "door buster" deals are available online, but a good amount.

I do find it interesting to see how much the Computer/Electronics folks cut their prices since I've been reselling those items for years. Helps to sniff out a good deal or if it is still better to just buy it through my suppliers. LOL

Here is a list of the ones that have started their sales this morning.

    Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Black-Friday-A...pf_rd_i=507846

Dell: http://www.dell.com/us/soho/p/featur...=soho&ref=hbn2 (Toss me a PM on the forum if you are really looking at buying something from them, or the other electronics/computers sellers. I can probably get a better deal through my suppliers)

Looks like a very successful Black Friday.

    http://money.cnn.com/2011/11/26/pf/b....htm?hpt=hp_t1

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Preliminary reports for Black Friday indicate that retailers may have seen their strongest sales ever during the all-important kick-off to the holiday shopping season.
Retail sales on Black Friday climbed 6.6% this year to an estimated $11.4 billion, according to ShopperTrak, which tracks foot traffic at malls and stores. Last year, sales climbed just 0.3% to $10.7 billion, which was a record one-day sales amount at the time, according to the company.

Proud to say we didn't participate in Black Friday - other than I bought myself a new camera that had a one day $300 rebate - but I did that online.

We did all of our shopping on Toysrus.com an hour before the store opened. Got all the door-busters we wanted and then some. I almost wanted to drive by the store and laugh at everyone in line.

Incentives change behaviors (and margins). There's little correlation to 'black Friday' and GDP.

Feels too much like stealing the Holidays from the employees of the retailers.

The rebate I took advantage of wasn't tied to Black Friday. I had bought another very professional camera and it came with a rebate that gave me a one-time $300 rebate for any order of $300 or more of their products (assuming you're going to buy accessories for the camera). I actually wanted a smaller backup camera by the same manufacturer. I could have used it anytime before or after Black Friday (expired in Dec), but it was a one day / one order deal. Since I was already looking around online, I figured I'd better use it before I forgot and to make sure the camera I wanted didn't sell out.

No real 'shame' in 'saving' money. But, in this case (Black Friday) many people had to spend a lot needlessly to 'save money.' Probably a topic for another thread, but despite the claimed shopping habits of people in this forum, the fact is many people in the general public fall for all the Christmas crap and get into more debt and more stress needlessly - all in the name of showing people how much you care about them (whatever).

Don't see how unless you are talking about them having to work. If that is the case they shouldn't work retail. Of course I've been in the industry where a day off really doesn't happen. A system always tends to break or customer support requests increase for whatever reason.

Eh I can understand where you come from. I personally hate debt and anything to do with credit cards. If you don't have cash for something, don't get it. I did pretty well in shopping over the last week for things for family and items I've been holding out for. All paid for in cash as well.

I had decided on a Christmas gift for my grandson. I found it a couple of weeks ago and decided to order it online and have it sent to his house since it's bulky. The price 2 weeks ago was $99.00. Hoping for a good deal, I waited until today (Cyber Monday) to order it. When I looked at the website this morning, they had jacked up the price to $119 and then 'discounted' the price to $89 - not quite the savings they were crowing about, but I did save a little bit.

Think an 18 month old dare devil will like this?
