Does anybody know what is being built on I35, just south of SE 44th St on the east side of the interstate, just north of Frontier State Bank? It's four stories tall, and looks like maybe a hotel?

Just a reminder, this replaces the 2 story hotel that was destroyed by the tornado.

That's right, I do remember that. Something happened to it and was in shambles, then they tried to fix it up, then a tornado in 2015 destroyed it even more, and then they ended up tearing it down.

That's correct. The tornado in May of 2015 damaged the motel beyond repair. The parcel of land that the motel sat upon has been divided into two halves. The southern half is being used for this new hotel, and the north half is reserved for future development - at least according to drawings included with the building permit for the south half. I do wish the new hotel wasn't set back so far from the highway, but at least the new hotel and adjoining development is a vast improvement... it will certainly look much, much better than that old motel ever did.
