Thread: What are some of your favorite Christmas carols/songs?

  1. Default What are some of your favorite Christmas carols/songs?

Some of my favorites would be
    What Child is This?
    Hallelujah Chorus

"This Christmas" sung by Harry Connick Jr. (sigh)
And of course "White Christmas" (Bing Crosby) and "The Christmas Song" (Nat King Cole)

Does anyone else remember the Christmas records/albums from childhood days gone by that were from RCA I believe. They had songs from many different people such as Crosby, Sinatra, Doris Day, Mahalieh (sp?) Jackson, Perry Como and so many others. Seems like my parents would get them from of all places gas stations like Texaco. Such good music memories....

Among my favorites are "O'Holy Night," "Holly Jolly Christmas," "Holly and Ivy," (I think that is the name. It is from "Oliver") and one from a Rankin-Bass special about Mr. Cold and Mr. hot. (forgot the name).

O Holy Night is a favorite. When sung by the right person its very powerful.

I always like Burl Ives' singing in the Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer show. I heard the Mr. Grinch song the other day. Thats a good one that brought back fond memories of watching that show. "You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch..."

O Holy Night is my all time favorite. I cry every time I hear it. Also, any other religious Christmas song sung by a good choir will move me to tears. (Silent Night killed me last year at church.)

Also, I heard a fun one on the radio this morning that is now on my list of secular favorites. Something about "All I want for Christmas is a Hippopotamus"? I thought it was great. And of course, Adam Sandler's "Chanukah Song". HEE HEE!

My 5 year old and I love the " I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas", and also "Grandma Got Ran Over by a Reindeer".

I generally do not like Christmas music at all.

Played it for far too many years... Same songs, same bad arrangements.

I also like "Grandma Got Ran Over by a Reindeer." My favorite Christmas Carols are: "Do You Hear What I Hear," "O Holy Night" (sung by the right person), "Silent Night," "Whay Child is This," and "Away in the Manger." I like many Christmas carols, as long as they are in reference to the birth of Christ.

Sure, these songs may be the same ole songs sung year after year, but each year, there always seems to be a different arrangement sung by a different artist, which makes it special.
