Default tulsa vs okc who's better, is this a serious argument?

over the last few months there has been much debate over what city is moving ahead tulsa or okc lol this argument is an absolute joke. OU football is probably this states biggest event on saturdays in the fall or just period, and last i checked OU is part of the okc metro. Okc has an NBA team, yes lets say it once again an NBA team not a WNBA team. Who cares about bok being a better arena and i admit it is a better arena than the ford center, but who gives a crap, the bok center hosting good concerts and a WNBA team. The ford center has an NBA team occupying it. Hmmm i wonder whats better. As far as nightlife lol okc has bricktown, last time i went to tulsa downtown i think i saw ghosts running around. And lets not mention colleges i mean ou( the largest school in state) uco( the 3rd largest school in state, not TU people) snu, ocu, okc u. i mean its colleges galore in the okc metro. Tulsa has oral roberts and tu, i think if you combine both schools it may be the size of jenks hs lol. the hard rock hotel and casino lol who cares, name a city in america that dosent have a casino these days. tulsa is not even close people lol not anytime soon ever.

    I'm proud of both cities:

I take issue that the BOK Center is better than the Ford Center. When all the improvements are made to the Ford Center, both arenas will be comparable to each other.

The BOK Center has a better exterior design; overall, I think the Ford Center is more inline with what is required for hosting a Major League franchise.

To me, each city has things the other lacks.

OKC: NBA, more population (good or bad?), and I'm sorry, but OKC has more to do as far as clubs/nightlife - Tulsa shuts down after 5pm. OKC is also the capital.

Tulsa: Better architecture, and yes, it's a physically more beautiful city with the "trees and hills" and prettier neighborhoods (Midtown is bigger and prettier then Nichols Hills.) And supermodel Amber Valletta is from Tulsa (however, supermodel Angela Lindvall was born in MWC.) Oh, they also have a Saks.

Both cities have casinos in their metro areas, and both metros have nice colleges, so that's a wash.

I never got into the whole rivalry thing though. I like both for different reasons.

Are you really wanting to start up this debate...AGAIN. I, like many people, think this is a going nowhere type of argument and shouldn't even exist. I live in Norman, so I go into OKC a lot. I know it very well. But I like Tulsa too. Why does one have to be better than the other?

OKC is to Tulsa as Fort Worth is to Dallas.

I've never understood the rivalry. I didn't even know there was one until I went to college and heard friends from Tulsa bad mouthing OKC as some kind of farm community compared to the "beautiful and culturally superior Tulsa".

Personally I wish Tulsa well, I think people up there have a serious superiority complex when it comes to OKC and can't get over the fact that, yes, OKlahoma City is fast becoming not only the best place in the state but one of the best cities in the country, while they bicker and stagnate.

Whatever though, I like Tulsa. I'd like for them to step it up a bit to give me more reasons to visit friends up there.

agreed RedDirt and ronronnie. there really isn't much of a 'contest' anymore as OKC has far outpaced and is on a different level.

But that doesn't mean OKC should look down on Tulsa (unlike how Tulsa looked down on OKC), I think OKC should take the high road and just compete with the new players now and 'ignore' the Tulsa snobbery stemming from the past. It isn't even a rivalry anymore, it's laughable because there really isn't a comparison anymore.

Ronronnie said it best, comparison wise - tulsa is prettier but other than that, okc is too far away to even acknowledge the 'rivalry.'

I do want to make a slight correction to Jimbo: OKC is to Tulsa as Dallas is to Fort Worth, not the other way around.
    Oklahoma City, the RENAISSANCE CITY!

I lived in Okc for 35 yrs. I also lived in Tulsa for 2 yrs.. Both have good and bad points. I hope for the best for both cities and Oklahoma. I'am a "Proud Okie".

One could live their entire life in OKC and never know about the rivalry between OKC and Tulsa. It is really big in Tulsa while you might never even notice it in OKC. I know. I've lived both places and love both places.

I stand by my comparison. OKC is more of a grown-up cow town while Tulsa is a culturally more mature city, much as Ft. Worth is to Dallas.

Every city/town is unique and different, that's part of what makes this Country so Great.

I live in OKC, go to Tulsa a couple of times a year. it depends on what I'm doing or looking for, with that said, neither OKC or Tulas have the live music venues I prefer, I'm a die hard "Blues Fan" and travel to Austin or Memphis 6--8 times a year just to get my music "FIX"

This is what I feel about any argument between OKC and Tulsa....
