Thread: U.S. military vehicles and equipment under I-235/23rd St

Default U.S. military vehicles and equipment under I-235/23rd St

Today, as I was exiting I-235 northbound at N 23rd Street, I noticed a large inventory of U.S. military vehicles and equipment located directly under the elevated roadway of I-235. Perhaps I haven't been very observant the few times I've taken this route, but this is the first time I've noticed the stockpile. I know the Guard/Reserve components have some presence around 23rd Street, but the location for this inventory seems very unconventional. Why is the military storing a portion of its fleet in such an odd place?

I think the Armory is right around there, and hiding it under a bridge seems like a smart place, not an odd place....?

Some of those are my vehicles. It's just a motorpool for the 45th IBCT. It's been there for years.

Yea I have always wondered about that. I first noticed it a year or two ago.

jbhenley is correct, there are several companies of the 45 Brigade stationed at the 23 ST. armory and surrounding buildings. The location under the bridge has been in use for years and does a great job for serving that purpose.

I should know better than to try conversing after being on the run for 26 hours.

Been there for years, nothing unusual really, it's an efficient use of space and it also gives the vehicles a little bit of weather protection. This is very common in other states.
