    Default Well Known Residents

Thought it might be interesting to create a list of well know residents of Oklahoma. I'm excluding current Thunder players.

    Toby Keith- musician, Norman
    Blake Shelton- musician, Tishomingo
    Jim Ross- WWE, Norman
Lorenzo Cain- KC Royals OF, Norman
Jordy Mercer- Pittsburgh Pirates SS, Edmond I think
Garrett Richards- LA Angels Pitcher, Edmond
Sam Bradford- Vikings QB, Pretty sure OKC somewhere but not exactly sure
Antonio D. Smith- former OSU football and NFL, southside OKC and a lot of land near Edmond (work w/a guy who's friends w/him)
Ryan Broyles- Former OU and Detroit Lion WR, Norman
Barry Switzer- former OU and Dallas Cowboys coach, Norman
Dusty Dvoracek- former OU and Chicago Bear DT and current radio host and ESPN commentator, Norman
Brandon Weeden- former OSU and Cowboys QB, Edmond I think
Josh Fields- former OSU QB and Chicago White Sox 3B, Edmond
Billy Bajema- former OSU and 49ers TE, Edmond

Ahhhhh..... Well I'm sure he still comes home to visit occasionally.

    So let's go with....

    Lon Kruger - Boomer Sooner!!!

Or is this supposed to be a list of Oklahomans that still live here? That whole excluding Thunder players confuses me since I'm not aware of any of them being from Oklahoma.... Well at least before last night.

Anita Bryant! Lives near Edmond on an estate.

Sam Bradford doesn't live here. Switzer is from Arkansas. Did the thread originator mean famous people who were born here or famous people who live here even if they are from somewhere else. The OP lists people from both camps. I think Garth Brooks has a place in Skiatook.

I see you had Jim Ross from WWE. Don't forget Cowboy Bill Watts, who went to Putnam City.

Ron Howard is also from Okla.

Should have been more clear. I was thinking about those that have a home or property here.

Sam Bradford has a home here. Big Eagles fan and there was an article from Philly, right before he was traded, talking about how he was hosting a couple of his teammates at his OKC home. I excluded current Thunder players b/c they are more or less forced to live here.

Forgot about The Pioneer Woman, Ree Drummond.

Roy Clark, Country Singer, Tulsa I believe.

    If you're a golf fan -
Bob Tway, Edmond (right in front of the 15th hole tees on the East Course at Oak Tree)

Ree lives in Osage County about 10 miles west of Pawhuska, but grew up in Bartlesville.

I think the way you framed it makes it a tricky answer. Take Sam Bradford. While he has a residence here, how much time is actually spent in it? The regualar season ends December 31 and OTAs start in mid March. plus factor in the time he might be somewhere else.

Terry Bradshaw has a ranch outside Marietta.

Terry sold that ranch. It was just a couple miles east of the Winstar Casino at Thackerville.

You can google map it and it will list 'Bradshaw Lane'.

Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains owns a ranch in SE Oklahoma and spends a lot of time there.

If I'm not mistaken, Reba McEntire's family still has the ranch in Chockie, northeast of Atoka.

Blake Shelton was mentioned earlier, but don't forget Gwen Stefani. They recently bought a house right on the shores of Lake Texoma south of Kingston.

Actor Ryan Merriman and his wife have a home in Choctaw.

Thought of a couple of others...

Chris Gaylor - Drummer for All American Rejects. Was born in Edmond, and I believe lives in Stillwater. Part owner of Battered Boar Brewing I think as well.

Along that lines, of course, is the Hanson Brothers, who recently launched their own beer line. They're up in Tulsa.

A couple off the top of my head:

Bryant "Big Country" Reeves still lives around Gans and I believe still attends quite a few OSU events. And his kid is also on the OSU basketball team.
Barry Sanders I believe lives or lived in Oklahoma City (unless he moved after his son went to Heritage)

I still drive though Pawhuska regularly. I am still amazed at the flock around Ree's store there. The newness I would think would be worn off by now. Most people I know attempt to avoid it if possible. The food ain't that great and the merchandise is overpriced is the general sentiment. So I have to think that a majority of that crowd hasn't ever been there. Just amazing how many people out there will travel to the middle of nowhere just to go to a store/restaurant that a celebrity had something to do with, but technically probably won't be there.

We went, the entire family was there on a Saturday. Spoke with Ladd, plus a couple of pics. Then spoke with Ree and had a few pics. They both signed a book the Mrs picked up. Didn't eat at the restaurant due to a 3 hour wait but ate several items from the bakery, which most were very good. They are down to earth folks.
