Thursday is going to be very interesting day. Could be a major ice storm for Southern Oklahoma. MAJOR ICE STORM Could also be warm enough that it's a cold rain
Storm is further south, drier, and warmer. Metro might not get much at all tonight.
I posted this in January board but I’m reposting here. I see the weather set up for tonight and tomorrow and I’m sure the school discussion will come up again..
I don’t know about anyone else’s neighborhood but I live at Wilshire and County Line and our neighborhood streets are still garbage. I can see justification for school closure. My son is also up at UCO which is a big commuter college and the side roads around there are bad too. Getting to main roads where it is essentially dry is the issue. Any melting during day is frozen as I about bit it on my driveway this am.
Don’t understand the passionate distaste toward schools being closed.
At this point, I would be fairly surprised if there are any notable impacts in the Metro this evening. Thinking all of the precip should stay well to the south. Irrelevant to our area, but this is looking to be a major ice storm for the DFW Metroplex.
OKC/Tulsa dodged a bullet with this storm. How bad it gets in southern OK into north TX will depend on temps, it could stay warm enough and will definitely be warmer by Friday.
Hoping the trends stay intact for a warmer and wetter storm system affecting the state around 2/8.
"2:25pm - Widespread rain/sleet is falling across north Texas and Oklahoma, however with a strong layer of dry air aloft, not much is reaching the ground! As it continues to precip, eventually it'll reach the surface and cause travel issues.
Stay weather aware!

What is a weather update for COK? hospital is offering weather rooms for nurses that want to stay overnight… I was just wondering if they were over reacting.
I guess schools is going to open tomorrow since there is no rain yet
There is light freezing rain approaching from the W currenty, but it is looking very pitiful. Maybe a quick drizzle across OKC at midnight. This storm was crazy. Texas into Tennessee is completey wrecked. Models once again underestimated cold air penetration and duration.
Seeing reports on social media of freezing rain in W OKC. So it is reaching the ground now. Obviously ground temps are very cold, so anything falling will quickly glaze surfaces.
I worked from home, but a few went in saying it was bad, campus was not prepped so the walkways and parking lots were also very slick. One coworker actually slipped and fell. I'm not sure why they didn't call for a delayed opening this morning. Even 2 hours would have helped some..
Yes this morning was easily the worst condition-wise for OKC. A quick round of freezing rain on surfaces that have been below 32F for 4 days is a recipe for problems. Kudos to everything that delayed opening by a couple hours to allow air temps above freezing + solar radiation.
Next storm looks like it will be here Tuesday into Wednesday. At this time looks like a cold rain.
It's beautiful out now.
Sunny, very light wind and much warmer than the last several days.
^ Amen!!
I am ready for Spring to come next month so we do not have to worry about winter storms anymore
Looks like the first half of February is going to be in a very active pattern. Bring it on!!
Hopefully this is a good sign for an active spring.
Ugh, it looks like the main focus of rain is shifting east. Seems like okc has just been on the outside of solid rain for over a year now.
EURO still with decent rain totals across the state by Wednesday
12Z EURO trending east...
Looking like better rain chances tonight here in OKC. Once again the metro is on the edge of the development.
