I'm hearing the plans for the Marriott on the SE corner of Sheridan & Oklahoma are still progressing, as they work through funding issues.
If it goes forward, I expect it to be in the 10-15 story range.
Any buildings coming down for that, or is it going on the #2 in the graphic above?
Main and Oklahoma? You mean Sheridan and Oklahoma?
Sorry, I corrected my post: Sheridan & Oklahoma, #5 in the graphic above.
Wow that's better than I thought, I thought we were talking about Karchmer 1.
(though I wonder what this would do to business for Bricktown Ballroom)
Any indication on the brand? In an earlier post you said it would be a higher end brand than what is currently available in Bricktown. Are we talking a regular Marriott? I would assume Renaissance is out due to proximity to CBD. Some of their trendier brands seem that they would fit into Bricktown but from what I can tell they're all in Europe with only 1 or 2 US locations. (AC, Moxy, etc)
It would be a full-service Marriott of some sort.
Pete, any word on the funding issues the Marriott was working through? Have they been resolved?
Haven't heard anything knew except there was an application to split this particular lot (SE corner of Sheridan & Oklahoma) off from the three properties to the east.
All four have been held under the same property record since Karchmer bought them some time ago, so that action indicates they play to spin off the parking lot, which is the site of the rumored Marriott.
Also, although the sales have not been posted to the County Assessor site as of yet, I was told that the new owners made the rounds last week to introduce themselves to the existing tenants.
Pete, so how tall can we expect this Marriott to end up?
I would be great to have something like this in the middle of Bricktown, though by no means do I expect that kind of height.
That lot is far too small to accommodate anything near that size.
I would expect 15 stories at the most and perhaps closer to 10.
Pete, where do you expect the parking for this hotel to go? Garage below the hotel or a Karchmer garage or something else entirely?
One last question - do you expect us to hear something firm about this before the end of the year? Or what kind of timeline to find out if this is really going to happen?
It's not a done deal, so it may fall apart before it gets to the announcement stage. I don't get the feeling like we'll hear details soon; maybe not before the first of the year.
I would assume parking would be to the east in the Karchmer surface lot (soon to be structure) or Power Alley Garage, which is what the Hampton and Hilton Garden Inn uses.
Some of the properties have closed; I updated the article at the top of the page and wrote a new one for the News section:
OKCTalk - Four key properties sell in Bricktown; more to follow
Spaghetti warehouse, what's going on with them?
They must be raking in some serious noodles to keep turning down offers to sell.
They -- like many early Bricktown investors -- bought that building very inexpensively.
I don't think its been mentioned on here yet but Club Albee has closed and did so last July.
Pretty much all that is left at this point is Candy Nightclub, the Purple Martini, and Club One15. I wonder how long they have and if new nightclubs will start popping up in a neighborhood where they are more welcome.
