3,003 new cases were reported today alone.

That is the largest single-day figure since August.

7-day average now 1,561, the highest since September.

Thank you for posting. I was wondering if you would consider going back to daily updates (I imagine that's a lot of extra work).

I have been doing more and more things lately: going out to eat, attending small indoor gatherings with other vaccinated people, going to shows at Tower and Ponyboy where vaccines are required. Looks like I'm going to hunker down for a while until this wave blows over.

I have had my Pfizer booster, and plan on getting another shot when my six months runs out at the end of February; likely I will boost with Moderna the next time.

Studies are preliminary but Omnicron seems to go after folks who have not been vaccinated, but also those who have not had boosters. Seems to be less dire in terms of hospitalizations and deaths but it's a little early to say.

It's been so hard to get people in Oklahoma and other states to get their initial vaccines. The thought of trying to get many folks to get boosters seems like a serious uphill climb.

I know I'm the eternal optimist. But even with the increases the last two weeks we're right at half the 7 day average of the same day a year ago. And with many more venues, businesses etc. open and at full capacity than a year ago. There is hope!

As long as the numbers stay high, I'll do more frequent updates.

The holidays present a problem because the reporting becomes sporadic which impacts the ability to have good trend data.

We have not had access to COVID-19 case data in several weeks, but in this chapter of the pandemic, with a contagious strain & a (relatively) highly-vaxed population, it is probably best in any case to focus on hospital data as we assess the state of the virus in the OKC metro.

So even OKC itself doesn't have access to COVID-19 case data? We appear to be taking a see no evil hear no evil approach to pandemic control.

Went to the bowl game: we had N95 masks on but 95% of the fans in attendance had no masks at all ����. Adding holidays it will be a superspreader deluxe.

Some of the case number graphs for various cities (DC, NY, etc) are just absurd. Totally vertical.

The game was in San Antonio and i probably saw 4 total masks in the 4 home games I made it to this year. Was the lack of masks at the Alamobowl really a shock?

That’s very concerning. I’m worried about my family who got the original shot but doesn’t want to get the booster. I swear I was about to lose my dad and Grampa but they got monoclonal treatment which seemed to help as they recovered days after getting it.

this virus is not under control in any place in the US right now.
