I remember T-Bird, MD 20/20 and Daego Red, but not Sweet Lucy.
Several of us guys knew this other guy that knew a man that work at a liquor store on south Sheild. It was in an old brick building not to far from SE. Well we would pick him up, give him the money, plus a little extra so he could get himself a bottle, then he would go in the store and get the stuff. Then one of the guys' parents owned some land by Newcastle and we would go there and drink. Once I got really sick on cherry vodka. I haven't touched it since.

The liquor store is still there.

First time I got drunk was on cherry vodka. Sicker than a dog. Have not drank it since then either. Slo-gin? Never tasted it because it smells like cherry vodka!!

It's still there!!! OMG, it's got to be at least 50 years olds.

There also use to be a restaurant on south Sheilds that my Dad use to take all the family to on Sat night. It was on the (I think) east side of Sheilds, but it was always packed. This had to be in the early 60's.

That swimming pool that was on Sheilds. Can't it's name, swim there a lot. But I played baseball with a guy that when he graduated for S.E., he signed a major league contract and bought the place. A least that is what I was told. Anyone remember his name?

    The swimming pool was Elmwood.

Two baseball players come to mind, Bobby Murcer and Darrell Porter.

He had two brothers who were drafted. Denny and Danny. One never made it out of the minors and the other, going after a foul ball ran into the backstop so hard he suffered kidney damage.

Their Dad passed away last fall or winter.

Darrell had a great carrer with the K.C. Royals but then got mixed-up and hooked on drugs. He committed suicide.

    Buffalo meat?

Hey!!! What the heck you going to Texass and it's not the first Saturday in October?

Just when I start to think you Grant people are not so dumb you go and pull a stupid stunt like this.

Don't try to justify it in any manner because it ain't gonna' work.

I have a borther who lives in Texass and I never go to see him.

When my sister and her family lived in the Dallas area she had Thanksgiving at her house. Didn't go!!!!

Man! You talk about having "Grant Pride" and then you slap Oklahoma in the face........

Do you not ralize that if it were not for Texass we would only be about a two hour drive from the beach.................

Late 50's, it shut down after a shooting in which the daughter in law who worked there with her husband and father. She died. Gloria Moore went to Grant, it was her dad's place. It closed in about the early to mid 80's and may be opened by someone else now, I don't know. Well known for their breakfast and evening steaks which were not very good!
