Haha, the wording was confusing. NO, I DID NOT call the city or the fire department, THEY came to my DT complex and issued citations/warnings. They DO NOT mess around with fire codes DT. I didn't have a grill, but wanted one, but several of my neighbors were cited and had to remove. We always had a common area grill per code. I remember this being a big deal publicly a year or maybe two ago, and Councilwoman Meg Salyer spoke out on the issue. I'll dig up the info when I get a chance.

And from KFOR in July, there you have it folks, not in a multi-unit complex, except common grilling area approved by code.

Grease fires can be a problem if someone isn't careful. Had jalapeno burgers the other day and that fire was burning like crazy. lol

Subsection 20-23 of the OKC Municipal Code references the codes from the National Fire Protection Association and the International Fire Code. These Standards are adopted in their entirety. They ban balcony grills. This is more or less the standard across the US, like many building codes that have been adopted.

When I lived in Denver, the building I lived in was strict in their adherence to what the city of Denver allowed, no charcoal, 1 lb bottles of propane only.

All references there are about gas or charcoal grills. I have heard of electric grills being banned by some complexes. Does anyone know if that is relevant to the codes? That seems no more dangerous that using an electric skillet in your kitchen.

I've never heard of electric grilles being banned. However, if you are using a small, cheap extension cord for a device with a large load you can create a fire risk. That doesn't just apply on a balcony, but anywhere. Inefficient transmission or loose connections create inneficiencies. With electricity, inefficiencies result in heat. Fires do start with bad electric wiring.

We so needed a great breakfast option to iHop in downtown/Midtown and I love Waffle Champion. I do hope they don't give up their truck though.

TAP Architecture has posted a rather nice, high res pic of 1212 (which I'll link to rather than embed, since it's a bit largish):

Does anyone know if there are any units still available at this property, and if so, how much is monthly rent? I tried emailing Midtown Renaissance, but haven't heard back yet.

Yeah, you have to keep calling and I think getting into one of the existing properties is by sure luck at this point. There isn't a waiting list it seems.

Maybe I'm a relic but if I was trying to contact someone about a place to live I wouldn't rely on email for my first option.

Not in my opinion, Sid. But what do we know, LOL. Actually my first option would be to go to visit someone in person.
