Performance work is the key phrase there. Most dealers don't do performance work, they do maintenance/repair work....don't know that I would trust the dealer there to do anything beyond an oil change. Most performance shops that develop a stellar reputation do so because they do something that others don't, so others go to great means to have work done by them. A dealer is usually the last place where you would want to take a car for that kind of work, most technicians in those shops are by the book people and that is all they know.

Bob Dumont was always the guy to have Porsche work done in town. Norwood Performance in Dallas is one of the "go to guys" in the country for Ferrari work.

Porche Cayenne is an SUV, not a sports car.

Well said. Not to mention the guy I know doesn't live in OKC but in Memphis. Doesn't matter though, if you want something bad enough and you have more money than you can ever spend, then you're going to do what you want.

Yes, but again when your rich and have more money than you can spend, you'll do what you want. He claims to have the fastest Porche Cayenne in the US. Another guy I knew when I worked at Gaillardia years back, he owned one of the first Lexus SC430's in the nation, the only one in the cream color, Jennifer Aniston ended up buying it from him because she wanted it so bad. Crazy world out there when it comes to the uber rich.

The true cost of ownership of a lambo or similar exotic can be an arduous task to estimate. However, it is easier to accurately estimate the costs of a new or near-new model. Based on my experience (6 months of exotic car research before purchase), one can add 50-70% of the original cost of the vehicle for the true cost of ownership over a 5 year period. For example, a lambo with an original cost of 250K will really cost you 375-425K over a 5 year period. That is about 230$ a day. This equation accounts for: cost of vehicle, fuel (about 1$/mile), tax, title, registration, maintenance, typical repairs, aftermarket warrantee, shipping (many are purchased in Italy and shipped) ,exotic car insurance, and exotic car financing costs (typically 2/3's of the purchase price on a 3-5 year bank note). Hope this helps.

There is an imports auto repair shop in Norman that will provide basic maintenance for exotics. If I need diagnostics, repairs, alterations etc... I go to the Lambo dealer in the Big D.

yes this does help, thank you.

I see more and more Lambo's (red, yellow, & black) in the city and thats when these questions pop into my head.

A friend of mine knows a lady in Norman who has a red Gallardo that someone supposedly ran into at the Sooner mall. She was parked way out in no mans land away from all of the other cars. I guess her insurance totaled it out and she bought another new one. How in the world someone could run into a car like that and claim they "didn't see it" is beyond me. Yes it is very low to the ground, but good god its really hard not to notice a car like that.

Which restaurant? I saw a guy driving it the other day and he looked really young. Can't imagine a young guy owning the car.

How young is young? Many lambo owners are in their 30's. Older exotic car enthusiasts/owners tend to flock towards ferrari/aston martin/Mclaren. Lambo is a bit more flamboyant and thus is more appealing to a younger generation.

Here's an interesting story of a guy who bought a Lamborghini Gallardo and drove it all over the country. He was able to go just over 91,000 miles until the timing chain went bad. Story at: I Sold Everything To Buy A Lamborghini And Drive Across The Country

Must have been a 6 speed stick. Most Gallardo's have an e-gear clutch with an average lifespan of 6,000K miles before replacement is needed at a $7-10,000.00 cost!

Hey, you'd be surprised! I used to live in an apartment that was directly across the street from a university parking lot. One morning, I heard a loud crash. When I looked out my window to see what had happened, some young lady had hit a light pole in the parking lot HARD. The parking lot was completely empty except for her. LOL

It's called "target fixation", they talk about it quite a bit in the Motorcycle Safety Foundation Basic Rider Course, you look at the object to avoid and head right to it.

There actually is an exotic car and rally club right here in OKC. A nano version of the GUMBALL 3000, check it out. The Arbuckle Group (thearbucklegroup.com).
