It's like City planning thinks they need to enforce cycling speeds at crossings, so they keep a slight jaunt at the street crossings...smh.
When your post is the last one on the page...people miss information.

The grand opening was a few weeks ago. I biked the extension on Labor Day. I really like the trail. The only complaint I have is that I didn't want to get back downtown by turning around once we got to the Katy trail intersection. The 4th street "trail" portion is just a sidewalk and share the road for bicyclists. Does anyone know if there are any plans to make this section a true trail?

There are plans for bike lanes on 4th street pretty soon but this first phase will only reach Lottie. Try out NW 16th next time! Its much more friendlier to bicyclists in that it is only 2 lanes and signed at 30 MPH and has an underpass for I-235

Thanks for the suggestion. I will try to remember that the next time I go for a ride that way.
When you say bike lanes to Lottie, is that from the east of downtown or from the west of the Katy Trail?

West from Katy Trail. There's a trailhead marker now at 4th and Lottie.

There are now lights lining the river trail every 50ft or so? They appear to be solar powered LED lights. They are not particularly bright which is a little disappointing but better than nothing I guess!

Huge fan of all the bike lanes. There is a big issue with them though.... They gather quite a bit of debris (glass, rocks, sticks) that makes riding in them impractical. Most of those items will puncture your tire. Also, when riding in the bike lanes, vehicles seem to not give you any additional space when passing, which means it's almost safer to just ride in the rode...

Does anyone know when the Deep Fork connection part of the trail is supposed to be finished? I saw an article in The Oklahoman not too long ago that showed some promising pictures of bridges being installed, but there was no mention of an estimated completion date.

I've seen them get cleaned pretty regularly by a little sweeper

At least once a month, I see a vehicle actually driving in the bike lane... idk what gives them the idea it is a vehicle lane

They're uneducated and/or don't care, same as with the idiots that open their parked car door right into traffic without even looking or caring, or the idiots that drive in bad weather with their hazard lights on, or .....

Driving east on i-44 along the Deep Fork it appears most of the new sidewalk is in. Anyone have an idea on opening date?

Deep Fork Trail is done between the Katy Trail and Kelley and then again between Santa Fe and Grand. Couldn't tell if there was any work actively being done between the two.

Also, the ramp to connect to the Katy Trail on NE 10th is finished.

I recently bought a new bike because i'm a huge fan of the new trail structures. i wanted to ride from Grand blvd and May ave all the way to the Katy trail. BIG PROBLEM is the Deep Fork Trail, from a couple blocks West of Lincoln Blvd., and all the way east to Kelly, simply doesn't exist, even though it's shown on the map. I found this out the hard way after biking 10 miles expecting to get thru. Anyone know why this is?

The Katy trail is not finished yet.
Also, the trail extension from river sports to the Katy is closed because of the bridge construction by Okana.
You can not do this loop currently.

You can try west river trail plus will rogers trail and back to the river for a decent loop.

I guess my only issue is that it shows that trail to exist on the OKC trail maps, when in fact it doesn't. That makes me question all the other maps!

That section you mention, from west of Lincoln Blvd to Kelly, is the final part of the city loop, via paved trails. So to do a big city loop, you have to take the street somewhere in that area. Riding on 63rd, though not great, works for now.

Good trail maps at OKC.gov and the Oklahoma Bicycle Society websites.

Those are the maps that showed there is a trail there, but there wasn't.

It looks like they have a "preliminary" tag on the Deep Fork Section but its not visible until you click the section.

I would also suggest this map, even though the legend is missing.

That link didn't load for me for some reason, though I did find this one on the ACOG page. The legend is hidden by default but you can pull it up by clicking the button between the zoom in and search buttons.

We are so close to completing the latest phase of Deep Fork Trail. We can hardly wait! 🚲👟 The fourth of five phases will be done within the next few months! Check out what's near you with our interactive map: https://www.okc.gov/departments/park...ils/trails-map

Does anyone know why that one main trail is named Katy Trail?
