We're going undefeated, baby!
Come on Texas! Play the game of your life and beat Baylor! I'm begging!
No matter the circumstances, Texas beats Baylor and sends OSU to the Sugar Bowl! Hell ya!
What a tough year for Baylor. Reminds me of last year's Thunder season. Dang.
We have to learn how to run the bowl before we play a team from even a down-year SEC.
Then not being dyslexic should've disqualified Texas from joining the Big 8..and we'd still have a great conference.
That said, Hook 'Em! Pour some sugar on the Pokes! See, we just needed a bye week to get back to our winning ways!
Early line - Ole Miss favored by 6.5 over OSU
Yeah, same prediction from me as I had against BU and OU. Don't see how we can compete with them.
Health and rest will be vastly improved. The SEC is a bunch of frauds with bad bad offenses which makes their defenses look good. Ole Miss would have the 4th or 5th best offense in the big 12, its by far the best in SEC. Motivation is always a factor in bowl games. OSU might be just happy to be there, so they play loose and crazy. Extra month of practice will help the defense adjust to the losses of Simmons and Bean versus during the season Bean and Simmons go don in the meat of the schedule with no time for their backups to get better without giving up TDs. The offensive line can always use more practice time. The seniors on the team will be looking to have a huge game to boost draft stock (KP, Ogbah, Shepard) .
I don't doubt that we'll just play happy to be there.. Which is why Ole Miss destroys us on the ground.
Sadly, OSU is providing the most embarrassing performance by a Big 12 team in the post season so far. It has been dismal at best. I thought Mississippi would win but not like this.
And the second straight year of dismal Big 12 post season play.
I watched (unfortunately) last night. It was apparent that Oklahoma State over achieved this season. Who really thought they would end up with a legitimate chance to win the Big XII title going into the last game? Ole Miss has a half dozen big time NFL prospect compared to one, maybe two that OSU has. They were bigger and faster than our guys. What did you expect. After the first quarter I was honestly hoping we could keep it within 50.
I will have to say, Ole Miss has got to have the most bizarre season this year. Losing huge to Florida. Losing to Memphis. Freaky loss to Arkansas. Beating Alabama on the road. How all of that happened in the same season is beyond me.
All in all, I find that a disappointment in a Sugar Bowl loss just goes to show how far Oklahoma State has come. Even when Baylor lost to Texas and it was final that we were going, the reaction was ho hum. Pretty incredible that a trip to New Orleans is met with indifference. My first year in college was the years Rashaun Woods & Josh Fields beat OU in Norman. No bowl game though (I think they only won 2 games). The next year they put it together and made it to the Houston Bowl. My future wife at the time and I decided we better go because we may never get to go to a bowl game again while we were in Stillwater. Perceptions have been changed for good now. For the better.
Overachieved? What do you think OSU should be achieving? We have fallen so far since 2011 that I don't know where to begin sorting my thoughts with this gut check. For a while we had the nation's 2nd most expensive college stadium ever. Since usurped by an arms race that we were the ones to ratchet up, forcing Michigan to spend $400 million on theirs to remain competitive, etc. Baylor, Houston, Texas A&M, etc etc.. even schools that already had decent venues like Tech, K-State, OU, and even Iowa State have had to spend at least $50-200 million on theirs just to tread water.
I know you can't buy wins, but you can buy recruits. With the talent we have had to work with, the venue where up until this year nobody wanted to play us, and the gentle seas to navigate in the Big 12 (compare to Big 12 south days, B1G East, SEC West) - it's a different era. I am sick of dopey people comparing this modern-day Oklahoma State program to the same dopey Oklahoma State program that older generations in my family grew up supporting (read: enabling).
So for all that has changed, the more those things solidify, and the more that the wins just aren't there - the missing link becomes obvious. It's coaching. Les left because he didn't have time to wait 10 years to build a stadium and a program. Gundy was supposed to be temporary until the dust settled on the stadium. Now Gundy has been eating up cash that should be going to an actual big-time coach. His cover is and always has been, whelp it's better than Oklahoma State of old.
At most schools, better than Pat Jones gets you fired, just like it got Pat Jones fired at crappy old Oklahoma State. Not much different than Mark Richt, Paul Rhodes, Al Golden, Bo Pelini (who had a series of outbursts nowhere near as bad as Gundy), and so on. Ole Miss fired Houston Nutt for being only slightly better than Gundy. I believe that Cotton Bowl score was 21-7. Fired.
