A life? You mean other than stalking OSU?

  2. Default Re: Fire Ford (and Holder)

Yeah priorities like you know, friends, family, stalking OU's rival..

Well, guys, this thread has obviously derailed. All I'd like to offer is that I did not intend to arbitrarily bash OSU...I honestly was trying to add some thought to the discussion. Sorry if it is perceived that I stoked the fires. I just wanted to talk the sports issues, not start a fight. Think OSU has some interesting years ahead in the "non-football" sports with T. Boone at the helm, but I guess we'll see.

Again, didn't mean to stoke any fires. Just wanted to talk the sports issues, but that doesn't seem to have been in the offing. * sigh *

Totally agree. You have to understand there is a "little brother" syndrome with osu fans. I used to not think there was, but recently I've discovered it does exist....... Without a doubt.

    It is what it is.

Your contribution is fine. OU84A and OKCBOOMER and such are just pathetic, silly, loser, trolls, and don't add anything. They just really invoke some sad sympathy, because really... these OU fans need help with their OSU obsession...

It's kind of sad if you think about it. But OKCBOOMER is a total loser anyways, so no surprise there.

I haven't paid any attention to Jerrywall in many months.... I put him on ignore for telling blatant lies on a totally different issue. Besides the lies he was belligerent. He can't handle opinions and facts that are different from his own..... It's clear that he has some pretty serious character issues. I suggest that you don't waste your time.

The pokes little brother syndrome is very real. It's largely an function of low self esteem. It's what cause more than a few poke fans to spit on and throw things at OU personnel and to resort to quick use of personal attacks.... It's because that's all most of them know.

Because OU maintains lily white purity.....not.

OU releases list of self-reported NCAA violations | News OK

OSU too: Oklahoma State releases list of self-reported minor NCAA violations | News OK

Looks like both schools occasionally run afoul of NCAA rules. But I do get a chuckle from the homers who seem to have some sort of pathological need for their school to be better. Grown men fussing and arguing over kids carrying a ball across a line on the ground is pretty stupid.

I grew up surrounded by the pokes in the 60's and 70's to be in denial about the existence of (PLBS) Poke Little Brother Syndrome is to not understand the reality of the situation.

Without doubt it exist and it exist probably to a much lesser extent with KU- KSU....... Texas- TEXAS A&M..... Michigan state and Michigan and at lot of other places.

This!!!! Times 1000. No matter the fan base, no matter the school: when you let college sports consume you, you're letting events relying on 18-22 year olds define you.

LOL....That's a worn out old line that poke fans always think they can fall back on when times get hard for them.

PS: CaptDave is the only other person I have on ignore...He has also told lies in a blatant way.

I agree. Since going to school at OU in the late 60's I have always been a huge fan. I remember not being able to sleep the night before going to the "Game of the Century" against Nebraska. I have certainly mellowed out a lot since then. I am still a fan and want them to win and contend for championships but I'm not consumed about it like many OU fans are.

Care to provide what in the wide wide world of sports you are referring to?
Oh well, will simply consider the source.

(And thanks for providing a great illustration of the point I was making.)

Only OU fans could manage to turn an OSU basketball discussion into an OU football is king argument. But, I don't know why I'm surprised. This is why I never venture into this part of okctalk. You get delusional sooner fans trolling threads that have nothing to do with them. Spartan tried to start a rational discussion about the problems OSU basketball is facing, and somehow it has turned into OSU being the little brother. (Which, last time I checked, 51 national championships for OSU is more than OU's 19, but I digress)

ou48a, unless you're going to start providing links to back up your claims, please stop. You're adding nothing to this discussion. If you would like to talk about Travis Ford and OSU basketball as a whole, I would be more than happy to do that.

I don't know what purpose this post serves other than a proclamation that you went to OU (congrats I guess, definitely a school I respect) and to further us down the discussion of sports insanity. That isn't the topic. This thread was intended to be a reasonable discussion about how to fix the shambles of what used to be an alright basketball school.

Step away from the computer, take a deep breath, and calm down. Try to get some help for your anger issues.

Rumors have it that Ford is negotiating a buy out with OSU?
Sounds like there could be a tell all lawsuite in the works if they can't come to an agreement.
osu can't afford to go on the cheap here unless they are willing to hear everyone spill the beans on the pokes when a lot of poke insiders would be put under oath.

For once I would love for your "rumors" to be true but I'm not even as hopeful as you seem...

Oh wait your source is the OU bubble... Or OSU Stalkers Anonymous

Hmmmm. Have a hard time seeing the point from Ford's side.

That is, I'm trying to see where OSU would have much leverage assuming the details of the buyout clause are as most of us believe them to be. From Ford's perspective, if he believes he's got a solid eight-figure buyout/termination clause, what would be his reason to negotiate that down even a little? How would Ford benefit from giving away eg $1M, or even $1,000 if its clear OSU would be the one wanting him out?

Heck, let's be honest - if it were me, and I had a contract that said if my employer wanted me gone halfway through a ten-year contract provided they paid me a ton of money, I'd want every penny of it. Not seeing why Ford would give anything away.

If OSU had some sort of real alternate leverage, eg some generic "moral terpitude" or "detrimental conduct" business, they wouldn't be trying to negotiate a buy out. They'd fire him for cause and be done with it.

I'll be curious to see if this buyout talk has any legs to it in the coming hours or days. I'm kinda skeptical right now, but we'll see.

Supposedly the factor working against Ford is his very low graduation rates that I have previously mentioned. Against that and on Fords side is the prospects of a tell all lawsuit that nobody at osu would dare want coming on the heals of the SI story, investigation and a cloud of other negative publicity.

I think they would probably let him coach out the season but who knows.
But this is just one rumor. I still think there's a chance that Ford could be back next season because of osu's revenue problems
