Those silver panels really pop. I was worried that the exterior cladding would be dull.

drove by today on my lunch break, and wow, this project looks great. This building doesn't look renovated at all, it looks like new construction, and very modern, one of the best Midtown renovation projects I have seen so far, good deal. It also really compliments Louie's across the street. Someone should take some new updated pics of this building because the finished product looks great!
Ant tenants lined up for the retail?
I just went back to the first page of this thread because I honestly could not remember what this building looked like before the renovation, it is just so different. And such an improvement. Now I am getting a little greedy and can't wait for the construction on the Edge to start. Last Tuesday, after the concert in the Myriad Gardens, my family and I went to eat at Louies since they are open late for dinner. The patio was mostly full at 10:30. And we could see lights on at the 1212. What a difference a few years make. I just love how this area is turning into a great neighborhood.
Took these on the 20th. Completely forgot to post them. My bad.

Nice Jeff!
Such a great spot that is only going to get better.
I'd be careful publicizing that grill on your balcony. I'm pretty sure they're illegal on DT balconys and the fire department cracks down on it pretty good.
There was a big uproar over it last year, I'll try to dig up the info tomorrow. I've personally had the fire department come give citations to condo owners in my complex.
There's probably a broad city ordinance that says something along the lines that the fire marshal can declare grills to be unsafe at a apartment or condo. I know for a fact their illegal at my apartments because a building caught fire back in July because of a patio grill and the fire marshal sent a letter to everyone saying that if the grills were not removed immediately it would be a $300 fine. Never seen so many grills disappear so fast.. Lol
I did a search of the municipal codes. I'm not sure it was comprehensive but I couldn't find anything like that prohibition.
People need to understand that urban living isn't the same as living in the suburbs with their patio and yard. There is a responsibility to the other tenants and fire safety is one of them. Lighting open fires in a semi-enclosed area within a few feet of the structure is generally an unsafe thing to do. The first time some idiot sprays lighter fluid on the coals and it flashes and someone is killed in a building fire then it will be not only unwise, but tragic. Whether it is technically legal or not, it still isn't smart. People need to learn to live as urbanites. It isn't just about location.
So everyone here has a problem with apartments and patio grills?
If we are talking about charcoal grills, then I agree. But the grill in question here is a modern propane grill. It's a glorified gas range and relatively safe. Especially in this case since the balcony and exterior of the building are non-combustable construction. I'm not seeing the big deal here.
Non issue gets sensationalized...
A gas grill on a concrete patio seems less dangerous than a candle burning on a dining room table.
Many jurisdictions prohibit charcoal grilles within 10 feet of the structure in multi housing. Some also restrict gas or any kind of canister holding flammable liquids. I don't know of any that restrict candles. Many facilities restrict the use on balconies because of the insurance consequences and liabilities arising from fires. Individual building leases should be checked. If the insurer has no problem with the risk, generally the owner/manager doesn't. But, to summarily dismiss the potential for danger is reckless or worse.
We should ban hair dryers and not rent to families with children. They cause way more fires.
Fires happen. It really sucks, and they can be prevented with maintenance and common sense.
If only history wasn't full of entire cities that burned down....
Don't many urban developments provide a common grilling area?
