Thanks, next time we are up there we will have to give it a try.

Yes, my parents get pizza and calzones from there and we sometimes get some stuff from there when we are in town. There is a small independent here that I know the owner, I need to get him to make some like the Sammy's/Pizza House. When I lived near Mayfair there was a place across from NW Classen H.S. that had the same type of calzones and I ordered from them.

Some of these have been mentioned, and some are probably pretty obscure lol.

Starwinds on N. May (they sold incense & other "mystical" things)
the Converse Store (also on N. May)
Mr. Steak in Norman - my grandparents used to take me there.
The Playhouse - children's clothing store in Moore, in the City of Moore shopping center
The Fashion Box - Ladies clothing store in Moore ; my grandmother shopped there ALL the time.
The Blackeyed Pea on NW Expressway - I loved their squash cassarole.
Der Duchman/Zaider Ze (or however you spelled it)
    Molly Murphy's
    TG&Y
    Venture
    Taco Tico in Moore
The Dynasty Chinese restaurant that was in the City of Moore shopping center.
    Otasco
Pratt's in Moore and the video rental place in front.

Some places that are still around, but just not the same as they used to be:
    Chuck E. Cheese
    Arbuckle Wilderness

Funny, I had dinner at my mom's tonight and she made a dish she called Blackeyed Pea's Squash Casserole. I don't remember eating the dish at the Blackeyed Pea but others there tonight thought it tasted the same. Not sure where she got the recipe but I am sure it is floating around the internets somewhere. Her brother-in-law brought Herman's cole slaw. Same story there.

    Anthonys
I'm 35 (grew up in okc in late '70s, and '80s. I lived at NW 39th and Portland. Around '78-'79 I used to walk with my mom to the TG&Y at 39th and Portland, and Casa Bonita was like two doors down in that strip mall (There was an IGA and a barber shop on the other end of the mall, where we bought groceries and got my hair cut with my dad until I was around 16). Otasco and Anthony's (the one by the other TG&Y on N. May), I spent many hours there growing up also. Remember Crystal's Pizza on NW Expressway? (loved that place) I'm trying to find O'Mealy's bakery descendants who might be willing to share the recipe for Harvey's lemon cake. My mom turns 60 today, and if I could attempt to make that cake for her, that would totally make her day on a hard day for her. I also used to eat "Chicken in the rough" at the original Beverly's

    The Capitol Hill Bakery

The Capitol Hill Ice Cream Store/Shop (?). One item they had that probably not be on the menu today was an "egg" malt or shake. It was a regular type malt with a raw egg added. They also had cake malts. Take one of the two hostess cupcakes and put it in the malt with the other goodies. Yum-Yum

This may be it. I can't find the waitress who served us when we ate there.
Her name was Betty. She had the recipe, because that was one of her jobs
    at Herman's.

This may be the recipe. Prunette and I made some a couple of weeks ago
    and it's very good.

    Herman’s Coleslaw

3 pound head of cabbage, chopped
    1 large onion, chopped
    1 large green pepper, chopped
    1 cup sugar
    3/4 cup olive oil
    3/4 cup vinegar
    2 TB sugar
    1 TB salt
    1 teaspoon celery seed
    1 teaspoon dry mustard

Mix the cabbage, onion and green pepper with the 1 cup sugar. Let it sit
    for one full
hour. Bring to boil the oil, vinegar, 2 TB sugar, salt, celery seed
and dry mustard. Pour the mixture
over cabbage mix and refrigerate for 4
hours or longer before serving. Mix again and serve.

Some of these are still around. Do you miss them because you no longer
    live here?

The drug store in Nichol's Hills Plaza has a great lunch counter. Tres bon!
Try it the next time you're in town.

Jr's, do you mean Juniors? It's still open. JR Chicken ranch? Gone.

It seems that there were several A-1 Cafe's. One was on Britton Road.
Where was the one you remember?

Are there no Church's Chicken's in NC?

I highlighted the businesses that are still open.

Which old Train Depot? My grandmother worked at Chick's Burger Bar which was on California directly across the street from the Santa Fe Depot from the early 50's until it closed for urban-renewal. She later bought the little diner that is still at 26th and S. Walker until (?) I don't remember. It closed when Capitol Hill pretty much shut down. It was like a lot of diners at that time, breakfast and lunch. Closed around 3:00 or 3:30.

Don't remember where Chick's got their pies but Grandma got hers from Chet's. Used Jack's Potato House, Cox Tomatoes, lard (Clabber Girl?) that was brought in tin cans once a week.

I'd give anything to have a "REAL" chocolate Boston Cream Pie!! No body makes them anymore. There are only a few places that still use real meringue. I was told by a baker that most younger people want the sticky stuff or a creme based topping. How about egg-custard pies.

SouthSide Girl is said to make a wicked chocolate cake.
