Is the big yellow vertical machine drilling the piers?
Yeah, that's got to be a pile driver.
I wonder why they've left the west section of the parking deck this long? Perhaps they need it as a work/staging platform.
just a guess, but if there is no compelling reason to demo the other parking as of yet, it's mighty nice of them to keep it in place to be used by whomever parks there.
They have a priority to the areas they want to clear first.
1. The tower location (takes the most prep work)
2. The west side of the parking garage
3. The location of the podium.
From the way things look they are re-enforcing the "sunken wall" around the street, then they will tear down the parking garage. From what I have heard, they should start on this in the next week or so.
Thanks, ndmoore.
It looks like they are driving piles to shore up the area fronting Sheridan so they can further escavate the site of the tower and rotunda (where all the dirt has already been exposed).
Sheridan is back open as of tonight with one lane each direction.
Don't Edmond My Downtown
Just a note to you all who were talking about what hours work will go on - just got an office memo as we are in the neighborhood - Starting in March, construction will be 6 days a week, 24 hours a day and I guess are going to use some pretty powerful lighting for the nighttime work, so maybe devoncam will be useful even at night :-). They are expected to have a peak workforce of 800-1000.
They started to demolish the rest of the parking structure today at lunch. Pictures will probably follow soon...
I'm relatively unfamiliar with construction practices, so can anyone tell me why large projects such as this are often worked on 24 hrs a day? Is it simply a timeline issue? Because I can't see how it would be any cheaper that way. . .
Will take camera tomorrow - had too many things to carry today.
The sidewalk on south (Gardens) side of Sheridan is open all the way now - no more detours through mud or grass. Wish there was more light, but at least the walk from Hudson is a bit shorter.
Has anyone who works within earshot noticed a strange humming buzz? I kept thinking there was some sort of alarm going off on my computer until I put my ear against window and heard it louder. I don't know how to describe it other than almost a vibration along with a hum.
Not enough of either one to be pleasurable or irritating - just noticable.
I'd like to know that myself....Do they or Don't they? If not they need to change some of the head lines that brings you http://www.okctalk.com/images/smilie...t_idea.gifhere....
I have pictures I was trying to insert as attachments but evidently have a "quota" I'm exceeding.
Can someone please tell me how I can get these inserted as images? Or do I need to reduce? All of the images are in the range of a MB each.
TIA, LG
