    I'm a huge supporter of NTTA, but the Trinity Tollroad would have been an urban setback.

    I'm divided on the issue. With that being said, with the recent horse shoe project completed, I don't think TRT is all that needed now. Maybe in the future when density warrants it, a tunnel can be built somewhere. I also had my concerns of building the freeway in an extremely flood prone area. My two main wishes for travel around downtown Dallas is getting the 75 buried underground or at least built below grade and capped in several areas and a subway system built.

    The proposed D2 extension through downtown will be a subway line.

    A Dallas-based developer plans to begin construction on a two-building speculative project, which will add more than 150,000 square feet of industrial space to the 590-acre Mountain Creek Business Park.

    High-profile parcel in Plano's Legacy Business Park getting high-rise office, hotel

    The Baccus family, in a partnership with Dallas-based Provident Realty Advisors, will begin construction early next year on land they've owned since the mid-1800s to transform it into a high-rise, mixed-use development.
    This development, called The Legacy at Spring Creek, is a chance for the longtime Plano family to create a legacy, said Leon Backes, president of Provident Realty Advisors.
    "This site is a very high-profile piece of property in one of the hottest markets in the country."

    The plans for the 37-acre tract include three office buildings ranging from eight- to 10-stories, totaling up to 2 million square feet with a 200-room boutique hotel and up to 100,000 square feet of retail space.
    "We're seeing an intense amount of interest in the site, from retail, office and hotel users," Backes said.
    The architects have planned on incorporating and building upon an existing grove of trees on the site, to help maximize pedestrian connectivity to other parts of Legacy Business Park, including developer Randy Heady's newly proposed office building along the Dallas North Tollway.
    Construction on the initial phase is slated to begin in early 2018.

    An expansion or relocation in Dallas would be a move toward bringing the game west, as seven of the league's nine teams are on the East Coast.
    "West is the direction we want to go," Ventresca said. And Dallas "checks all the boxes from the league's perspective."
    Gross said several groups are interested in owning a team in Dallas, but Jerry Jones' camp is not one of them.

    "The Cowboys will not be an owner," Gross said. "They’ve made it clear their focus is on the Cowboys, but they’re very supportive of what we’re trying to do."

    The 150,000 SF McKinney location will be slightly larger than the Frisco location.

    Plans to revitalize Plano’s ailing Collin Creek Mall come into focus

    Redevelopment efforts to save an ailing Plano mall are underway as part of a planned $1 billion investment to convert the southeast Plano properties into a multi-use development with multifamily residential, retail and entertainment projects.
    “Most likely, if they’re going to do mixed-use, the property would need to be rezoned,” Braster said.
    Ware said he anticipates the mall project to cost between $1 billion and $1.6 billion.

    Scott Polikov, principal and founder of Gateway Planning, said redevelopment efforts at Collin Creek Mall will also be building on the momentum of the recent revitalization in downtown Plano. Gateway Planning, a design and development consultancy firm, will work in coordination with Dreien on the Collin Creek Mall project in the coming months.

    $8.5MM expansion allows McKinney room for minor NAHL franchise:

    Dr Pepper StarCenter McKinney to add additional ice rink, parking, locker rooms

    The Dr Pepper StarCenter in McKinney will add approximately 46,000 square feet to the facility, which includes an additional ice rink with 1,800 seats, more parking and locker rooms.
    Officials from the StarCenter, located at 6993 Stars Ave., McKinney, said they hope this expansion will allow for larger events and tournaments, including a possible minor North American Hockey League franchise, according to a presentation given at last night’s City Council meeting.

    The expansion is estimated to cost $8.5 million with $3.5 million in funding from a grant approved by the McKinney Community Development Corp. and the remaining $5 million coming from the city of McKinney.

    Grand Park vision could come to life in 2018
    Future plans could add more acreage, extend the park east of the Dallas North Tollway

    Grand Park is planned to be a 350-acre, master-planned regional park near the heart of Frisco.

    The most recent plans for the park include a lake feature, walking trails and large amounts of open space paired with commercial development fronting the lake.
    Grand Park is already planned to be the largest park in Frisco, but it could grow as it is developed. Future phases of the park could include adding acreage to the park east of the toll road and just south of the Frisco Discovery Center. This land could include approximately 180 acres that the city plans to purchase one day surrounding the former Exide Technologies battery recycling plant.

    Factoring in all the land that the city already owns for Grand Park and near Frisco Square as well as the land the city could eventually own around the Exide plant, it is possible to have more than 600 acres of park and open space in the heart of the city, City Manager George Purefoy said.

    “The vision for Grand Park is even growing bigger than it previously was,” Cheney said.
    “Once Grand Park is completed, I feel that’s what Frisco will be best known for,” Cheney said. “It’s that kind of caliber of park.”

    Inside this $100M luxury condo project near Frisco's '$5 Billion Mile'

    Construction has started on a new $100 million luxury condominium development in Frisco's exclusive Stonebriar neighborhood, which sits near the city's much-marketed '$5 Billion Mile.'

    The 121-home, single-story flats, called The Corvalla, is being built by Dallas-based Robert Elliott Custom Homes and Canada-based Western Securities Limited within 100 yards of The Westin Stonebriar Hotel & Golf Club.
    The home will be priced from the $700,000s to the $1.2 million range, with the average cost at about $900,000.

    The condos will range from 1,700 square feet to 3,000 square feet. Each residence will have high-end finishes with Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances in the kitchens.

    The community, which sits near the Stonebriar Hotel & Golf Club, will have outdoor courtyards with fire pits, bocce ball courts, and a resort-style pool with cabanas.
    The Corvalla is slated to open to residents in late fall 2018.

    Pei Wei chain to relocate headquarters from Arizona to Irving

    Armed with up to $500,000 in incentives from the state and $75,000 from the city of Irving, the fast-casual chain plans to create 100 jobs in North Texas over five years, beginning with moves later this year.
    It is the fifth headquarters relocation that Abbott has secured with the help of the Texas Enterprise Fund.
    “Part of this is not just a headquarters move, but it’s really an overall shift in our brand direction,” said John “J.” Hedrick, chief executive of Pei Wei. “We are separating operationally and geographically from our parent company.”

    He said he expects most of the jobs, some with an average annual compensation package of $125,000, to be filled largely by North Texans.

    “I expect the number to be no more than probably 10 people to relocate” from Arizona, he said.

    The company, which operates more than 200 restaurants in 21 states, will move into about 14,000 square feet in the Las Colinas Highlands, a seven-story building near DFW Airport.

    First look: New apartment tower on the way at Dallas Cowboys’ The Star in Frisco development

    Called Star House, the project will have "160 urban living units" in a tower built of limestone, metal and glass.
    "Our average unit size will be north of 1,200 square feet," Columbus Realty CEO Robert Shaw told the Frisco Planning & Zoning Commission when it approved plans for the apartment tower.

    Newly released plans for The Star project also show that three office buildings will be built along the tollway and Warren Parkway, adjacent to the new apartment tower. The office buildings will range from seven to 12 stories tall

    The office and apartment towers will join the new Omni Frisco Hotel and Baylor Scott & White Sports Therapy & Research Center as the tallest buildings at the $1.5 billion The Star project.

    The owners want to build an office tower with up to 11 floors and as much as 340,000 square feet of space.
    "The motivation behind this new building is we've seen serious upward movement in the rents in our existing offices," Spurgin said. "We think we'll garner significant interest with this building."

    Northwood hired architect Gensler to design the tower.
    The office tower would be one of the largest such developments along U.S. 75 in years.

    The project at the northeast corner of U.S. Highway 75 and State Highway 121, will include office space, apartments, retail and restaurant buildings and a commons area with two acres of green space, water features, outdoor dining and a stage for performances.
    "The project is organized around open, green spaces comprised of water features, lawns for events and native landscape inspired by the prairie heritage of north Texas."
    The development has been in the works for more than a decade and currently includes a Sheraton Hotel and Conference Center, an office and industrial facility for Emerson Process Management and a campus for Collin College.

    Its slender massing and razor-sharp lines slightly resemble Pei's John Hancock.
