While I definitely don’t disagree, the resort fee is definitely in line with other hotel/resorts I’ve stayed, including many that are much more of a “hotel” than a “resort” compared to Okana.

Once you add all the fees to their lowest price of $175(lowest that I saw anyways) the total came out to $259.32 for those curious. That was on a weekday.

Looks to be in-line with Great Wolf Lodge. It's not unusual at all for places like this (or any resort for that matter) to charge daily resort fees.

I’ve unfortunately been reading too many Facebook comments, but numerous people are commenting that the day passes for the waterpark portion only are going to be very limited for people not staying at the hotel. Does anyone know how true this is? Makes sense that they can’t just offer an unlimited amount as I’m sure there is capacity. I can also imagine that they’d want to give priority to those staying there, but I’m curious how true the comment of “limited day passes” really is.

They can charge whatever they want, as long as people fill the rooms. However, with the resort fee, just charge it with the room. Stop trying to deceive people. Your rate isn't $175 a night, it's $220. You have to pay it no matter what, so it is what it is. At that rate, I can't imagine too many people in OKC doing a staycation at the resort for that price?

As for the comparison to Great Wolf Lodge, it will be interesting to see if OKANA can demand these swings in prices for holidays, weekends, etc. Great Wolf Lodge is positioned as a destination in Grapevine/DFW in what is soon to be the third largest metro in the United States. They have millions more in a customer base within DFW and the state of Texas to pull in and an established nation wide brand that caters to young families and the property is going through an expansive renovation during 2024.

OKANA, while new, is a single property. They are going to have to market the place and make it seem cooler, newer, better, economical, etc than driving to a Great Wolf Lodge (DFW and KC) or Kallahari (Austin) if you are located in a place like Wichita, Tulsa, Amarillo, Fort Smith, Little Rock, etc.

$229 mid week Spring goes up to close to $400 weekends. Summer mid week $350 is the lowest I see. Over $400 Friday night and over $500 Saturday night. Is that on par with places like Great Wolf? Monday June 16th one night Two Queens and Bunk Balcony River Suite sleeps 8 $415 that includes tax and fees.

I paid $150 for a "suite" at Great Wolf the night before the eclipse, when they were in the path of totality. Got it on sale, but still you can get decent weekday prices at Great Wolf.

The potential customer is not forced to book a hotel room here. If the resort fee is too much, then attendance will suffer, and the tribe will act accordingly. The Chickasaws don't do anything without a ton of research.

It's kind of like restaurants adding a fee for using a CC. Just add it to the cost of the food or in the case of the hotel just add it to the cost of the room rather than show it as a separate fee.

Or Ticketmaster listing seats for a certain price then adding a ton of fees on top of it when you go to checkout.

I just think to add a resort fee for things like wifi (that usually sucks), fitness center, or newspaper, ect is just weak. If you want to charge people all those things and give the customer that choice, then I am totally ok with that, even though I think they should be included, esp if you are paying these prices.

If there is no choice to opt out, the fee should be included in the room price. Otherwise it is simply a gimmick to make the room seem cheaper.

Just went through the booking process on the Okana website. The room description states a cost of $175 per night for river view and that water park passes are included with the room. The resort fee is not disclosed until you have placed the room in your cart and are ready to check out. The resort fee is bundled with all other taxes and fees and user must click “details” on taxes and fees to see the resort fee. For a 1 night stay at $175 there is an additional $84.32 in taxes and fees which breaks down as: State Tax $7.88, City Tax $7.22, Occupancy Tax $16.19, Resort Fee $44.99 and Resort Fee Tax $8.04. Interesting that the resort fee tax rate is much more than any other tax, almost 18%

Then it must be listed separate to calculate a separate tax on it. Makes me wonder then if the restaurants that are adding a CC service fee are adding sales tax on that extra fee.
