Will that be obvious from the road that it is connecting the parks?

Perhaps not. However, if it is, at least the function will be more obvious, making the sight of a bridge more palatable to drivers' tastes (notwithstanding the elimination of cables, making the actual sculpture ambiguous; so maybe one shouldn't be impressed with unnecessary superfluousness after all lol).

The pics i have seen of it at night lit up are mpressive...I still prefer the sleeker clad design w/cables///with the erector setish look it has now can definitely see some of the comments posted about tornadoes twisting an oil derrick/power line tower/falling construction ceanes etc and it tnded up straddling the highway...being clad, lit at nite and cables during the day would all minimize that impression somewhat

Yes I understand that the contruction on it isn't quiet finished yet. I am curious to see how it looks at night. I was also wondering if they lit it during the day if it would look a bit different.

Does anyone know what the speed limit will be on it once its done? It seems like the average speed is 70MPH in either direction, at least in the wider areas. Westbound has signs for 55mph, eastbound has 60mph signs.

I've seem cops under the shields bridge, but with everyone speeding 10+mph over, I guess they wait for the guys doing 80mph?

Looks like they started ripping up the old interstate on the western end where the westbound lanes will go.

Everyone seems to be doing 80-85....it's very wide and wide open..... people tend to treat it like the Indy 500. I have seen several cops too.

Will - echoing Sid - these are awesome pictures! I drove the Crosstown, daily, for 30 years. I'm glad we've got a brand-new road, but a bit of history will remain reflected in your shots!

Today I went to a movie at Harkins, exited out of the side door and noticed something I had not noticed before: the old I-40 with no traffic on it and the new I-40 in the distance. It was so quiet and weird.

That's another nicety about the new highway, no more nasty highway noise in the CBD.

Someday the noise from the deconstruction and the Boulevard construction will be gone....the construction noise from P180 (or whatever it is reduced down to by then...LOL)...the completion of all of the MAPS 3 DT construction projects noise...
