I was the stadium earlier to pick up my tickets and I really think the environment this year at Taft is going to be pretty special.
This is good to hear. There's so much gentrification of the nearby neighborhoods going on, and if the retail/business component can step it up a notch, it'll just help our property values go up even more. There are lots of neat-looking buildings in this area, many of which have been covered up by crappy awnings or other additions. They all have good bones, and it'd be so cool to see them restored and re-purposed.
Final score:
Oklahoma City Energy FC . . . . 2
Seattle Sounders FC 2 . . . . . . . . 1
Great time last night! They need to get actual registers at the concessions because the lady who helped us was using a notepad to write your order down and then adding it up, it was ridiculous.
As far as the game, man Daalgard is a man with no fear, that dude is comfortable taking on any number of defenders.
It was a pretty cool experience in the supporter section when Konig put in that late game winner. Beer everywhere.
That's an awesome picture.
Not to be a Debbie Downer, but I kind of wished they would warned us in the neighborhood about setting off fireworks at 10pm
A nice pic of the smoke last night
Congrats to the energy on what looks like a great win - looks like the fans did their part too - awesome! Anyone have a link to a highlights video? Also, who is in charge of the Energy's website? Hasn't even been updated with the recap or box score of the match. Weird. When you go to the schedule, it still brings up the "tickets" link. They really should get on that. Embarrassing that I have to go to Seattle's website to read the game recap.
I take it access in and out of the stadium with the parking lot incomplete worked out or they got the parking finished?
Anyone think it was a little underwhelming that there were only ~67-6800 at the game? People had been saying that there were only like 20 tix left on Friday. The west stands were MAYBE half full. Were those sold, and people just didnt show up?
I saw many people on twitter say they were not going because of the weather forecast...
But I suspect you're looking for any reason to say that the energy are not a success.
It was officialy a 'Sell Out'. I would say about 70% full or so. I would also assume that a lot of people didn't come do to the weather. There was about a 30 minute delay to start the game. I think I might have felt one or two drops of rain.
Weren't they supposed to start this season?
NASL remove OKC from the website and Oklahoma City FC is no longer exist for the mens soccer.I think Energy FC killed that team
How sad & unfortunate for the NASL Oklahoma City FC? Reminds me of that final round when Sonny Liston sat there in his seat and couldn't come out against Muhammad Ali.
Man, that was quick. Like a marquee fight and the challenger couldn't answer the opening bell--the referee never got the chance to bring the fighters together.
Did one of Sonny Liston's trainers go over to Ali's corner between rounds? Did he also take Liston's mouthpiece with him and give it to Ali?
And did all his followers say that by stealing his mouthpiece, and joining Ali's corner, that he was "uniting all boxing fans"?
That's more apt of an analogy. I think ;-)
I really like reading Laramie's things. Unlike the rest of us, he seems to always keeps his objectivity when reporting on something.
