Is there someplace on the net where I could find a radar loop of the area of rotation that caused the issuance of the tornado warning for OK County last night? Specifically, I'm interested in it as it moved through the Mid-Del area. We had a very difficult time following the activity on TV as a result of frequent power outages interrupting the coverage.

This is the only site I know of, but you may need another application to view the data:

    NCDC: Radar Data

    Thank you.

I'll give it a try. It looks like they use UTC and if I've calculated correctly (which is not necessarily likely), I need the period between about 0100 and 0300 5/14/09 UTC, the data for which is not yet available. I'll order the data, download the visualizer software and see what happens.

Making some new storm data pages on AC...here is for yesterday:

    May 13 2009 - AnvilCrawlers

Also trying to fill out more content on the site. Invite everyone to come over and help. Trying to make the site be a wealth of information for everyone novices and those that understand the more complex data. Will be working on incorporating additional information like "How To's" so if you really want to know how to read an upper air sounding, it walks you though and you know what numbers to look for and what they mean.

Angry Re: Severe Weather Outlook - May 12 & 13th

Spoiler alert....there is a complete idiot in this video.

CNN has been showing the short version of this vid on their I-reports all morning. What they dont show you is what an idiot this guy is......I like to call guys like him "yahoos". I hesitated to post this because I didnt want to give him any publicity. I was going to post the version on youtube yesterday but it was removed by Mr. Ambrosia because he was getting to many negative comments. And rightly so. He gives serious storm chasers and spotters a bad reputation. Anyhow....here it is. My idiot of the day award goes to Micheal Ambrosia....who does it just for the thrills and money. I hope the police see this and take away his drivers license. Like I said I hesitated to post this yesterday because of the publicity....I guess since hes all over CNN now its too late....so here it is. Notice hes not only speeding and driving recklessly, but filming with his "free hand" at 100+ mph.

  14. Default Re: Severe Weather Outlook - May 12 & 13th

Reading some of the comments on ST, it is pretty clear...the old days of chasing are gone. I didn't start chasing on the plains until the mid to late 90s, but chasing them and now are so vastly different. The population of "chasers" has soared a ton and everyone is out there with their toys. While I can't say I didn't have my share, I never went over the edge with decals, lightbars, or a mobile weather station on my car. I was out there to see if I could nail the forecast, pick the right place, and enjoy the structure and power of mother nature.

Today? These yahoos are out there with no care for anyone else's life. They are wanting to get the close up video so they can make some money and get their name on the news.

The speeds topping 120-130mph are just effin stupid. On wet roads, with traffic, on a two lane highway. These are the people you would not mind seeing wrapped around a telephone pole before they hurt or kill someone else.

I hope the authorities do more than just take away his license. This was nothing more than a publicity stunt. I believe this is him as well: Ambrosia ?acting? on desire to serve in the Missouri National Guards

Notice...he is an actor who is probably out of work. How best to get a job then plaster your face all over the media, even if it was doing something stupid. I'm sorry. No responsible chaser in their right mind would be going that fast on a wet road while video taping with one hand in traffic.

Oh these people just get me so PO'd at what they are doing to the community. Morons like this reduce the public perception of the chasing community and then local law enforcement starts losing trust in what the responsible ones do. 7-8 years ago you could be on the side of the road and a officer would come over to chat and ask about the weather. Now, you are more likely going to get ticketed or harassed.

    Thanks Venture 79.

My data order was delivered and using their NOAA Climate Toolkit, I was able to develop a radar loop movie. What actually happened made a whole lot more sense after watching it.
