Well worth it - my miles per gallon improved by 5, city driving.
That 5 miles is well worth it, depending on the distance from your home to work. I'm not that far from Target, so that extra 5 miles will help rake in a whole day worth of pay.

We may never know exactly when ethanol came to town and at which stations, but I do know 7-11 started using it back in October-November of 2007. This mysteriously coincided exactly to when my '04 Jeep Grand Cherokee dropped from a consistent 20mpg down to 17-18mpg and also started surging and sputtering occasionally. I thought I had a fuel system problem but the mechanic couldn't find anything wrong. When I discovered in May '08 that 7-11 had ethanol in their gas, I stopped buying gas there because I had just heard ethanol reduced gas mileage. For the last 4 months it's been only pure gas for me. Gas mileage is back up to a consistent 20mpg again and the surging/sputtering went away too.

For me, that's proof positive that not only does ethanol reduce gas mileage, but it can also cause problems with the way the engine and fuel system work.
