Also look for United to match or beat on price with Frontier on some markets. Scott Kirby plans to take Frontier to town with this latest announcement.
Smisek was a schmuck. Granted my loyalty goes back to CO days but he was terrible
No one from either side likes him (I'm from the CO side too). As part of his golden parachute he retained his unlimited flying privileges, I've heard he doesn't use them very often at all and he's changed his appearance so much (beard and hair color) that he can avoid being noticed most of the time. Of course his name is still on the manifest.
The entire airline has a breath of fresh air now with the new management team. They treat us well and have the backbone to stand up to other airlines and even in a lot of cases Wall Street. Right now Wall Street is unhappy with the domestic capacity gains, but the long term benefit of growing domestic presence is huge even though it has a short term effect on yield. United literally has around 15 years of growth to catch up on. American and Delta both expanded domestic capacity over the last 15 years while United shrank. WS is unhappy UAL is playing the long game instead of cutting capacity to boost short term yield. Kirby has had the backbone to flat out tell WS they are wrong - that's very refreshing to the front line. OKC would still have United agents if Smisek left and Kirby came along earlier.
I think there was a saying on FlyerTalk back in the day of "don't United my Continental"
Is Frontier going to be providing ramp and counter service for these flights or are they outsourcing?
Possible new maintenance base at OKC by Skywest, pending an incentives package:

This would be big stuff if it passes no doubt, and Skywest is one of the better and more stable regionals out there.
It's a no brainer really
Hangar 84 LLC (former ARINC, now Field Aviation) modified and renewed their lease to allow for the expansion of that facility to the north. Not sure if they have active plans to build another hangar, or if they were just renewing their lease to allow for the expansion in the future.
The new SkyWest Maintenance Center will be located north of Atlantic Aviation and south of Field Aviation along Taxiway H1.
Looks like there is plenty of room for more of this sort of thing all along that east taxiway.
This shows the general plan now that Portland has been shifted east:
Is this an updated map? I feel I haven't seen it before with the lariat landing stuff. Just curious if they decided to make changes since the other side of the highway has started to take off.
Also what do they mean by strategic reserve?
Yes, current as of this week.
I'm sure the strategic reserve is area they want to hold for future operations. They now have 100 acres they can market for aviation use to outside companies.
