Thread: Devon Energy Center

At one of the Thunder playoff games, the camera was showing the team warming up and suddenly James Harden stops and goes over and introduces himself to an older woman that Larry Nichols was escorting to court-side seats.

Figured out later it was Larry's mom.

Really a cool, totally un-staged and genuinely nice act on the part of both men.

    Hey, look straight ahead here:

It's the big hole about to be filled with the new parkage garage. Well, that view is about to change completely in the near future.

This, the best leaders serve and teach others to lead. Larry is very humble and I've had several conversations with him myself.

Kinda wished I were walking this path right now:

That's going to look even nicer when all the vegetation has filled in and matured.

The second I saw a post about Larry Nichols I knew that it was just a matter of time before Rover had to write up some long defense or praise of him. And no one even said anything negative.

Larry Nichols is great, but how silly is it that we're giving him credit for getting in line like everyone else. What else should we praise him for? Using his legs while he walks. Lol.

(Again. Not trying to start an argument. Larry Nichols is great.)

Are you saying Larry Nichols is the new Chuck Norris?

YES, this exactly! Why, just the other day, I saw Larry Nichols walking along a sidewalk using his very own legs -- not riding piggyback on a subordinate like so many other CEO's do these days. And with every step, he touched the ground. He's such a down-to-earth guy!

I've worked at several companies where the CEO would never, ever go stand in line for food.

Most have their assistant fetch lunch for them. I even worked for one who insisted that the lunch be transferred to a crystal tray with real china and flatware. When I had lunch meetings with him she'd do the same for me and it made me incredibly uncomfortable.

So, it does say something about Nichols' humility and general character that he does things like this frequently and seems to be a sincerely down-to-earth guy. Those qualities are rarer than you might think among people that have achieved his level of success.

The north triangle is lit in a beautiful deep blue tonight. I don't know what volume they're testing it at but it looked AWESOME on my way home from work!

Was able to catch a few pics leaving the Y tonight. Forgive me for my less-than-stellar photo skills, but these at least give you a good idea of how the crown and multi-color scheme look.

First time I've personally witnessed anything other than a white triangle from my window...

    Nice!

They are really hustling now because Devon has their big grand opening in a few weeks.

I'm sure they want the lights completely done by then.

    Very cool!

Looks almost like Manhattan if you don't look too close.

Definitely. Or maybe SF -- with all that fog, I find myself reflexively scanning for where the Golden Gate Bridge is!

However, if we ever end up building a suspension bridge (or two) over the river for pedestrian traffic, etc. then we could end up with a cool 'fog over bridge' view afterall.

Here are a couple showing the top triangle with LED's.

It's nice seeing the crown in something other than a boring white light. I was starting to think that was their spectacular "crown lighting" we were all waiting for.

The white lights are on the inside and not part of the LED setup.

They are just now testing the LED's in the crown.

    The "crown". Cool.

Ok, so now I know what to call the top section without always having to say "the triangular part at the top".

Wow.. I didn't even notice the graffiti in the pic until you said something. So sad. Why are people such assholes?
