Yuck.
Perhaps a Weight-Loss Clinic?
Can you still get a simple "'Beef' Burrito" at Taco Bell?
(You remember . . . Some seasoned "beef" . . . Some cheese . . . Some onion . . . wrapped in a tortilla.)
They used to cost about twice as much as the bean burritos (which were about sixty cents).
They were the ones that you ordered at the drive-thru with a conversation like this:
"I'll take two beef burritos and throw in some extra hot sauce."
"Two burritos."
"Two MEAT burritos."
"Did you say bean?"
"No . . . Beef . . . Two beef burritos. With meat. And hot sauce."
"That'll be a dollar twenty."
"It can't be a dollar twenty. It should be about twice that."
"You said you wanted two burritos."
"Yes. Two BEEF burritos. The ones with no beans. Meat instead."
"Oh. Okay let me fix that . . ."
Etc. . . . . . . . . ..
Can you still get a beef burrito at Taco Mayo?
Can you ask to substitute Miracle Whip?
I guess, in the final analysis, the soft taco supplanted the beef burrito . . .
An efficiency expert probably determined that The Fold is superior to The Roll.
In terms of time management . . .
Anyone have any idea why they tore it down?
They're not closing cause Jack in the Box is moving across the street, are they?
Hopefully, they are rebuilding it, and the whole area gets renovated, including the old Homeland building behind JITB. They should doze that place, and turn it into a plaza.
I would imagine its a rebuild. No way they don't rebuild with OCCC down the street.
That location needed a makeover back in '90
Hopefully they'll be smart and rebuild in a nearby location, this place was a nightmare to get in or out.
Jack in the Box opening across the street might have something to do with it. Force a little cash into it to keep it alive. While it's been closed for quite some time now, i've seen people working there the whole time. Although at this point i'm betting they are just converting the place rather than dozing it or anything. So i'm betting they are gutting the place and working from the inside, out.
bombermwc: drove by today and while you may have seen folks working inside while it was closed, I suspect that they were just removing salvageable equipment and the like as it has definitely been "dozed", down to the Okie red dirt...the building is completely and totally gone...only thing remaining was the surrounding parking lot and the road signage. Presume they will keep the pole structure and replace with newer sign closer to reopening but by leaving the old signage are letting folks know they are rebuilding there???
It's likely a rebuild. The night business alone was enough to keep the store open 24 hours if they wanted. I was a regular when I lived southside. The drive thru was always 8-10 cars deep. Jack in the Box's arrival likely spurred the rebuild. They will be back open by summer if the weather holds up..
Wow, that was fast. They spent quite a while not dozing and then BAM!
That happened with the Taco Bueno up just north of 63rd & May. Sat closed with no signs of activity for a month or so and then dozed down to the concrete slab (some floor tile was still attached) and red dirt... all in less than 48 hrs. It was intact on Monday and gone on Wednesday...No dumpsters containing building debris...
Yes indeed but the main reason for the teardown/rebuild was so they could put in a drive thru (without it being placed awkwardly)...the old building was practically touching the adjoining business where the drive-thru lane is normally...for many fast food places approx 50% of the business is in the drive-thru.
Yes, and the rebuild is a lot nicer ;-)
