    Say it ain't so, Broome!

    Broome's Fried Pies | Facebook

    From May 14th:

Broome's Fried Pies Well, the time has come where I need to make one more change. This month is my last in Arcadia. Afterwards, I will move my equipment to storage and take the summer to refocus and relocate my business. I thank all who have continued to support me during this short run and I am hopeful that I will return much stronger in the fall.
    From today:

Broome's Fried Pies is undergoing a period of transition. Negotiations which will shape my business's future are underway. Stay tuned, Fans, as there is more to come.
And I just discovered him for myself a couple weeks ago! Guess I'll have to make a couple more trips out this month to "stock up" for the hiatus. . .

Arcadia? I thought he was in OKC out off I-35 before you hit Frontier City?

Broome has been a bit of a moving target, but worth following. I've come to know Mr. and Mrs. Broome and can tell you that they are good folks. Stay tuned. He hinted this week that there may be some good news around the corner.

I love those pies!! Yes, they were at Arcadia in a Pizza place next door to a wonderful little liquor store ran by a great little lady named, Kimber! On Facebook, Broome's said they were closing that store, and hopefully would find another place? Oh, and the liquor store will special order things they don't normally stock...

I wish they would move somewhere in NW OKC. Their pies are delicious, but driving out to Arcadia wasn't really convenient. They need to move where the people are.

I'll try to keep you all updated. Broome is a friend and has indicated that he will continue on, just isn't ready to release the details.

RealJimbo, let Broome know that there are some quality downtown area developers looking for unique, destination eateries. (Think Big Truck Tacos, Iguana Mexican Grill, Cuppies and Joe, etc). I've got to wonder if Broome might fit what some of them are looking for.

I've never eaten at Broomes so I don't know that much about it. I do know that they aren't the only fried pie restaurant around though. There has been a location for years on the north side of 50th just west of Portland.

Nobody in town can compare to Broome's pies. He has the ingredients and the process perfected. Latest word is that he expects to be back on the scene soon, in a new location.

You may be correct. As I said, I've never eaten there. I was just pointing out that they weren't the only option.

The Original Fried Pie Place, which started in Ardmore by Nancy Fulton, now in Davis, now has bought the fried pie place on 50th & Portland. It has been re-named Arbuckle Mt. Fried Pies and will be open during the week of Aug 8, the same quality pies you get at Davis at the Turner Falls exit. Both Broom and the place on 50th have done their own take on the original pies Nancy makes, but can't come close to the quality.

Thanks for the info, i live around the corner from there and every time I drive by it looked closed and abandoned (for a while now).

Didn't see any activity when i drove by today, doesn't look like it is going to be opening within a week?

Pretty sure they've owned the place on 50th and Portland for years. It was formerly called "Fultons Fried Pies".

Didn't Broom's start out in that former Italian place--that I think was a former something else that didn't make it in that location (or vice-versa)--on the I-35 (west-side) frontage road just south of Hefner?

Every time I drive by that Fried Pie place around 50th and Portland I want to stop . . .
But it's never lunchtime or dinnertime.

Does anyone else remember a little "Australian Fried Pie" place in the strip center at 2nd and Coltrane (in Edmond)? I think a husband and wife--from Australia--ran it. Sometimes on my way home--way further east--I used to stop and buy the frozen ones they would sell to heat up later.

Of course, they weren't as good as the ones freshly made in the shop, but whaddya gonna do . . .? =)

I don't know if Broom's started there, but yes they were just South of Hefner on the I-35 service road in the former Acapulco Mexican restaurant that was previously Papa's Little Italy. Acapulco was not there long but Papa's was open about twelve years.

99.99% sure that is the sign that is still in place...will double check on my way out today...LOL

Ooops, while definitely a sign that has been there a while I didn't see the name Fulton's on it. possible that it was on there originally and changed to Famous (think that is what it says currently), but didn't look at it that closely. Did notice activity there, but doesn't look like they are close to opening (at least not some time this week). i was going to ask but the 2 people there looked worn out....

Am by there often and will try to give updates...

UPDATE: Drove by today (Monday) and more activity going on. Chatted with the folks and they are planning on opening this Wednesday! I wish them the best but it didn't look like they were anywhere close to being done. The sign does still say Fulton's on one side. The nice young lady i spoke to said the same lady that owned Fultons still owns this, they are just going by a different name again. Can't remember what she said it was going to be called now...
