We were told that if we could come up with someone to verify our credit for the first six months of the car loan like a relative, that we would satisfy Tinker Federal Credit Union requirements for accepting our loan.

After being told personally by the finance manager on four seperate personal conversations that this was not going to be a co-borrower or co-owner situation... I asked my father to help out since he would not be held financially obligated to a new car as someone on the lien, title or actual loan itself.

My father, wife and I again visited the credit manager on Feb 27th because the credit manager needed my father to sign a few documents because as part of Oklahoma State Truth in Lending laws, he needed to sign that he was aware of what I was purchasing.

I again...reiterated to the finance manager that if my father was being comitted to being a co-borrower, co-signer or co-owner for the new car, I would take my car that I traded in back and leave the new car at the dealership, no problem at all.

My dad, myself and wife were again told, no don't worry...your father won't be obligated to anything other than as someone who will vouch for my wife and I for the first six months of the loan. This was supposed to be a "special program with Tinker Federal Credit Union.

We left the dealership and on March 6th, my 77 year old retired, fixed income father received via mail from Hyundai the car title in HIS SOLE NAME, the LIEN in HIS SOLE NAME and all the bank financing arrangements IN HIS SOLE NAME. Edmond Hyundai swapped the paperwork and fraudulantly changed the purchaser of the auto from my wife and I to my father.

All of us immediately went to Edmond Hyundai and were told that the only option was to have my dad sign the title as the owner of the vehicle and register the vehicle...then sell the vehicle to my wife and I after we get direct financing through "another special person" now at Communications Federal Credit Union.

I said no way, we will leave the car at the dealer, the dealer will buy the car back and get my father off everything since he is a retired senior citizen who has no means to purchase a new car.

I was told that my wife and I needed to pay the dealer $1100.00 in negative equity in the car we traded in, in addition to lose our down payment on the new car. Since this was the only immediate option to allievate the financial burden on my father, we did this in protest.

We now are out thousands of dollars, we lost our trade-in because the dealer claims it was sold... and my father got frauded by these crooks!

We need to share this with as many people as we can to help stop these thieves from ripping others off in their illegal, unethical and deceptive scam practices.
I would contact the Attorney General's office and discuss with them what your options are. You can file a complaint with the AG online here Oklahoma Attorney General - Consumer Complaints - www.oag.ok.gov.

My wife and I were planning to buy a car from Edmond Hyundai a few months ago but after doing some checking on them we decided to not to. We went to Automax Hyundai in Del City and almost bought a car from them, but we had a terrible experience with them and did not buy a car from them either. I will post more about our experience on another post. Both Hyundai dealerships in OKC are dishonest and fraudulent in my opinion.

I would definitely file a complaint with the AG if I were you. I'm no lawyer, but I believe what they did is illegal. Maybe some lawyers here will chime in with their thoughts. Sorry that you and your dad had to go through this. I hope you are able to get this resolved. I was going to suggest that you post this at ripoffreport.com but I see that you already did. Post this everywhere you can, people need to know about these shady, low life, con artists.

I like to use Ripoff Report: By Consumers, For Consumers, just enter the name of the business along with oklahoma or okc in the search. David Stanley is very popular! Some interesting stuff.

I bought our Envoy @ Edmond Hyundai. I got plenty of "shady" vibes, but they can't jerk you around when you pay straight cash for well below sticker price.

I bought my car from AutoMax in Del City and got some vibes as well - not quite "shady" vibes, I suppose, but definitely vibes telling me I had to put up a stern front. I had my financing pre-arranged, but allowed them to undercut what I had. And so they did. But they did it correctly. It helps when they know you're watching with an Eagle-eye and not just making noises about it. If you don't catch their first bluff, I imagine they figure you won't catch the rest.

I have to agree with most of the threads. I have bought plenty of used cars and no dealership has stood out in my book. I will warn that any David Stanley dealership should be avoided at all costs. I used to work at a local credit union as a loan officer and we had to drop them as an indirect lender(financing in house). They rip people off all the time and only go for the one time business. I had a lady once who had cancer(no hair), sweet as can be. She came in to check if she got a good deal off her trade and current vehicle. Long story short, she finance a dodge dakota with no extras for 30k when the MSRP was only 16k. Fair warning to all.

Where the best place to get a Dodge Charger and actually be able to reduce the price with sales people will actually work to sell it?

i got my charger used at marc heitz Ford. It is an 07 and had 24k when i got it for under $15k so I was pretty happy with that

as for finding a place that will work with you, just do all your shopping online with their Internet departments before you even go into the dealer. if they want your business they will respond to your requests, but if you're being unreasonable about what you want (like wanting a charger for $10k or something), then they probably aren't going to waste their time.

March Heitz Dealerships have always been good to me and the people I have sent to them. However, they also are in the business to make a profit. Do you homework and let them know you've done it and be prepared to drive off in a new Vehicle.

That's good sense. Get the Kelly Blue book price and see what the price
is. It's a very good tool to use. Do your homework!

Personally, I can't stand to talk to car salesmen. I'd rather go to the
dentist. Prunette loves dealing with sharks, I mean, car salesmen. We're
    a good team.

Prunette does the dealing (she's nutz and loves it) and I say, "NO! Let's
GO!" Even when they give us the old line, "Today only you can buy this
bucket of bolts for ..." I'll say, "let's go." Within 12 hours we'll get a call
and the price has miraculously dropped! Then we'll tell them no thanks.

When it's at the price we think is good THEN and only then will we return
to the shark, I mean dealer, and start dealing.

The thing is this, don't EVER be in a hurry to buy a car. Even if it's the
only one on the lot and your dream car. Wait and let them sweat. If they
won't deal then there will definitely be another car for a better price, and
maybe at another lot. Just sit and wait. I know it hurts, but sit on it.

NEVER BE IN A HURRY TO BUY A CAR! NEVER, NEVER, NEVER!

I think Winston Churchill said that.

    Right Gen64?

    Just a hint,

If financing through a third party, call up the bank and ask for the "Black Book" value for the vehicle. This is the same source most banks and dealerships use to determine the true value of a vehicle (usually it is the most conservative). From there, ask how much cost/service the dealership has put into the vehicle to make is sellable (if buying used). Knowing these two bits of information, you can negotiate a fair asking price. Even if you plan on using the dealership's financing options, it doesn't hurt to get pre-approved from a third party and to use them to determine the Black Book value of a particular vehicle.

Also, an interesting side note about Kelly Blue Book. KBB is a dynamic value that adjusts based off what dealerships are actually selling a vehicle for at the current time. For an example, when the brand new Chevy Camero debuted, dealerships were selling them for upwards of $20K over MSRP. KBB would reflect this increase in their stated value of that car.

I've bought lots of stuff off eBay, though nothing that big or pricey.

Texas, of late, is the center of De Lorean interest; there's a full-time DMC-12 restoration outfit in Humble, near Houston. Several of these Time Machines have been built. (One was featured in a Car and Driver comparo a few years back.)

If your trying to travel through time, then its very real.

Really, I would never consider buying a car on ebay...But I work with someone who got a good deal on a great car, and he recomended it to me before I bought my truck. I just thought I'd ask if anyone else has. I came across the "time machine" and thought it was kind of cool.

I know a guy that buys lots of motorcycles off of eBay, and he knows what he's doing.

I went to Diffee in El Reno last night. I was definitely underwhelmed. I was about th eonly customer there, and the salesperson was not knowledgeable at all (it was a traded in Toyota, though, to his excuse...). Although I was the only person in there last night, the manager never bothered to come introduce himself to me, and I wasn't hardly given any negotiation. At least I had done a comparison of the car online and knew the price was fair and payment acceptable, but still- the lack of attention and assumption I'd pay the list price without talking about it was a little silly and pressuring.

Now, it wasn't BAD service, but it was certainly lackluster. In this economy on a Wed night, you'd think they'd be pretty happy someone knew what they wanted and was willing to buy.

To their credit, their internet manager, Dandy is his name, was terrific. I wish I could have dealt with him the entire time.

Until that entire industry learns to grow some ethics I'll never buy a car from a corporation.
