this is exactly how i've felt. i am incredibly social and i often seek out new spaces and people to give me energy and a change of pace. i'm at home by myself 90% of my waking hours now. it's a motonous, lonely routine. it's sucked.

Good day to have the press conference. They wont have to worry about running over into lunch since everyone will be fasting.

My sisters decided not to sign the form for mom to be one of the first to be vaccinated. I have mixed feelings. On one hand she's 93, frail and doesn't know where is most days. They're concerned about possible side effects vs any plusses for mom being vaccinated. And it's been going on 9 months and only one positive in the pretty large nursing home where she is. So I see their side. On the other hand I've had this $&@" virus twice and won't feel safe going into mom's place if she's not vaccinated. What if I had it again and give it to her. Because I'm convinced no matter how careful there's a chance even if small of spreading it.

So 20k total people will be vaccinated in December. That is great news for LTC places and front line workers. I really hope that this will drive down some deaths and hospital numbers in a month or so.

We are almost there team. Stay safe and we can make it a few more months

I'm assuming you're getting 20k people from 40k doses. Do you have a source for that. The documentation the nursing home showed us from the OSDH to decide whether to permit mom to get vaccinated really sounded like both injections for one person was considered a dose. I'd like to know which it is.

    great assumption there man.

one cannot be curious as to why the state does something without having some hidden motivation? i realize a person like yourself always has to have a meaning hidden or not but others thankfully are not like you

its weird they group ages around 18 years then stop grouping?

Having elderly and parent's that need care is so incredibly hard. Covid made me so thankful my mom passed 2 years ago because l wouldn't have been able to see her for going on 9 months now and after 9 months, in her mental decline, would probably not have known me after that time. Covid has only made it a much harder ordeal. I wish you all wisdom and strength in dealing with your situation. It's clear it hurts you.

If we get 40K doses in one shipment, that is considered to be 40K people. They will ship the second dose separately.

That assumption is reflective of the remarks I've been hearing from a certain political cult for the last 6 months. Maybe I'm cynical for a reason.

Right. They're old, therefore they deserve to die.

That's what the information we were given read like.

Thanks. Yes it does hurt. My two sisters are 14 and 17 years older than I am. The oldest sister has been "in charge" of mom's care so she's the designated visitor. Mom was having trouble remembering much about me 9 months ago. I bet if I walked in tomorrow she'd have no idea who ai am. Nobody hates this damn virus any more than I do.
I am glad dad passed in 2016 after being in bed or a wheelchair since 1980. That would have been too much to deal with now.

Dan, I am sorry this has happened to you. Seriously, the situation you describe is one of my worst fears. It makes me sad thinking about all the lonely people this situation has created.

why not to 65-80 and then 80+. Just using 65+ is such huge group.
I would guess there is some logic around common outcomes. If the data points they're seeing for all ages over 65+ are trending the same, adding granularity into that group provides little benefit. But again, this would just be my guess.

Another look at why having city required mask wear helps:

Lawton, OK pop. 92,859, maskwear required, total positive cases: 3414, covid deaths: 27

Enid, OK pop. 49,585, maskwear NOT required, total positive cases: 3696 covid deaths: 35

Tonight channel 4 said the White House corona virus task force said Oklahoma is currently on track to record more than 8,000 new cases of COVID-19 per day by January. Oklahoma has the 4th highest positivity rate in the U. S. Channel 5 said 87% of those 54 deaths reported Wednesday happened to people age 65+. Come on people, prove them wrong. Continue to take precautions, if not already. Avoid large crowds, especially when indoors. Wear mask and social distance. I think knowing all that and acting upon it will be more effective than just a prayer to God.

I am older and just staying home. I don't feel this really. The staying home is not that much off of my normal routine. I live on an acreage. No I don't have family so being separated from family is just normal unless I want to travel a long ways like over the big pond. When I worked, I worked as a firefighter and was around a group of people 24 at a time, sometimes working back to back shifts. Trust me, I liked to go home and have peace and quiet and actually be able to sleep though a night and not have to get up and go from a dead sleep to full go. These days of retirement I enjoy the quiet and peace of country life. I do miss some of my normal routine like church and coffee after with friends or anyone who happened to stay for coffee. I do miss going out and shopping for items that I really did not need, just to get out and see what is new. Most of my time really was and has been since retirement just working on my place. Other then the shopping and church, my routine has not really changed that much. I still visit with my friends on the phone almost everyday. I have friends around the world as well as family scattered out in different counties, the wonders of technology make it easy to visit via computer. I guess I just don't feel loneliness as you described as others have of depression. I just have lots to do and lots to enjoy around my place. Each of us has our own perspective I guess. I'n well stocked and will just ride this thing out hopefully safely at home.

The U.S. had over 200,000 cases yesterday and nearly 3,000 deaths, both records.

And the CDC believes it's going to get worse before it gets any better.

Unfathomable. And there will be no leadership from the top: Trump is going around the US promoting overturning the election.

Thanks for saying that. I'll be okay, really, but it helps to share that the isolation of COVID is hard. Pete's description of his struggles really resonated with me because I could have typed the same words. I am sure a lot of people are feeling it. When other people are suffering much more, it can be easy to dismiss our daily, smaller struggles, but it is still important.

For sure. I think people are experiencing COVID very differently. I've certainly heard more introverted friends say that they really enjoy the time at home alone.

On the CNN website yesterday, not sure I remember who it was or what positions they hold in this covid thing but they were saying that anyone over 65 or with a compromised immune system or with significant health issues, should not go into any indoor space where they could potentially encounter someone not wearing a mask that could be infected. Well that about eliminates most churches, all restaurants and most stores. Even with mask ordinances there continues to be people for flaunt them and say they are exempt because of some made up health issue or just flatly refuse. Time to stick to curbside pickups for all these folks and me too.

And yet Edmond is holding the winter Farmer's Market on Saturdays indoor at the Senior Wellness Center. Seems like a good mix.

1,707 new cases today; 7- day rolling average down to 2,354 after peaking at 3,318.

24 more reported deaths; 7-day rolling average remains at 18.9, an all-time high.

    Hospitalizations are 1,734, -48 from yesterday's all-time high.

The Dept. of Health completely changed their website and current Executive Reports are nowhere to be found, so I have no idea about ICU numbers.
