The web site behind the petition to legalize marijuana for rec and medical purposes along with hemp growing is here: http://okmla.com. However, they appear to be having problems getting started. There's still no petition to download or sites where it is available to sign.
The medical marijuana petition people may be getting a little concerned if they're going to be able to get enough signatures due in mid August. Here is a Facebook message from them as of Thursday:
"Do you really want MMJ legal by 2015? We can save Jaqie Angel and the hundreds of those suffering, but it's going to take all of us.
Let's get real people. We don't have enough signatures yet. We still have plenty of time, but we need you. It's time to step up your game.
Our hard working volunteers have been running ragged for months, expending time, energy, and money. They're just getting started.
We need you to become a fighter for health freedom today Oklahoma!
This is it people! This is our last chance for many years to save lives and end this oppression once and for all. Join us today and make history."
Really feel that if marijuana doesn't get on the ballot, at least there is healthy discussion and education about it. Correction officials don't want to legalize marijuana; however many feel that Oklahoma's present laws are to strict on smokers.
My lungs are bad; my days of smoking included my college years in the 70s at UCO. I don't care to toke or smoke anymore. Many of my friends still do it; there's no evidence that it has been a gateway drug for other thing like cocaine, heroin or crack cocaine.
The few friends of mind who went on to the more dangerous and addictive drugs are dead; they spent a brief period of time smoking marijuana--many said that it didn't do anything for them.
I don't hold a lot of stock in studies about marijuana being a gateway drug. As mentioned, those who drove into the dangerous drugs were people who also had alcohol problems as well.
"Oklahoma City looks oh-so pretty... ...as I get my kicks on Route 66." --Nat King Cole.
People should think of their pets as an additional reason to legalize medical marijuana. Maybe it would be given in oil form. What if your dog came down with a serious ailment the vet is having frustration in curing it. Finally, the vet says, "I'm sorry, there's nothing more I can do. I'll leave it up to you to decide when the time has come to put him to sleep." Wouldn't you then want the option to try medical marijuana on the dog?
Asked my vet about this a couple of days ago, as far as she knew there was no testing being done on animals at this point in time.
Interesting report on the amount of demand in Colorado
http://www.colorado.gov/cs/Satellite...&ssbinary=true
This study finds total marijuana demand to be much larger than previously estimated. Our point estimate of demand is 121.4 tons per year for adult residents. This is 31 percent higher than a recent Department of Revenue assessment, 89 percent higher than a study by the Colorado Futures Center, and 111
percent higher than an older study by the Colorado Center for Law and Policy.
My dog enjoyed a magical old age, maintained with 4 small portions of an edible throughout the day. Before, we'd given aspirin for the aches and pains. I mentioned it to the vet a few times. No comment.
I wonder what vets think when people bring in pets who ate their pot. I've had friends do this. Embarrassing, for one.
Is this the same Senator Johnson who is running against Jim Inhofe for U.S. Senate? You can't be a candidate for the U.S. Senate and be serious about the work involved with an initiative petition.
Just checked...same person.
Connie Johnson US Senate
On the other hand, what she's doing is so obvious - get the marijuana petition on the ballot and instantly you increase voter turnout in Oklahoma for those who would vote against Jim Inhofe.
I can't stand Senator Inhofe and think he needed to retire, but she does not have a chance. Dorman has a better chance against Fallin than any scenario where Johnson is elected to the United States Senate.
There's much talk about mj and epilepsy. You just have to establish therapeutic dosing for the patient. As long as doctors and vets aren't permitted to help, you're on your own. Start small.
The problem with finding the right dosage is that it is nearly impossible for universities to get the green light for medical research involving cannabis in the US. It is a joke. Most of the medical research information we have is coming from Israel of all places. I learned tonight that the researcher at the University of Arizona who was conducting research on cannabis was fired.
I'm convinced that the fear of pot is related to the '60s and the Nixon administration's fear that pot "radicalizes" people into free-thinking beings.
I do my own research.
Interesting of them to use a photo showing the unfinished Devon Tower. The medical marijuana petition drive is unfinished. But like the Devon Tower, it too will be finished.
