Just LOL @ OSU. Class of the big 12 now. Pathetic we "lost" to them. How many times did the bogus PI calls get mentioned during OU game last night. Also, OU and TX both lost penalty battle again yesterday. One of WV TD's came on the heels of 2 very ticky tacky PI calls. We have to play extremely clean because we're not going to get any other breaks for sure.
On WVs first touchdown they showed a couple of times how "WV ran to the opposite side of Danny Stutsman and kept him away from the play". What kept Stutsman away from the play was an offensive lineman with his arm around his chest. WV ran the same play a few more times but Stutsman lined up further back from the line of scrimmage so he could move left or right before the lineman could get to him. He had another great night.
Also. I watched all of Mich - Penn St and Kansas - Tech plus parts of other games. I can't count on all my fingers and toes how many horribly obvious calls or no-calls were made. I know officials are part time and they're human. But if so many obvious mistakes were made by so many people at any place I've ever worked there would be retraining programs out the wazoo.
Bets on OU getting in the CCG? OU is in by winning out (at BYU, vs TCU) and either a Texas loss (at ISU, vs Tech) or OSU loss (at Houston, vs BYU)
50/50
I think OU will handle their part. It's the "and" part that worries me. I think UT will win out. Can OSU stay focused enough after getting throttled by UCF? I don't know.
An OU vs either rematch would be a great game. A UT vs OSU would personally be really hard for me. I would hate rooting for either.
For the good of the conference it would be best for UT to win out and win the CCG. That's the only ice cube's chance at a Big12 team in the playoff.
But I hope big time that OU wins out, gets into and wins the CCG and plays USC in a bowl game to kick Riley's ***!
Said it with OU say it with Texas the Big 12 is brining Texas down. Right now Texas needs a few teams around the country to lose or they don't make the playoffs. Right now Mich/Ohio St winner is in unless Iowa beats them in title game. FSU is in if they run the table (possible they don't) Washington/Oregon winner is in unless Washington losses and than beat Oregon again. Than the SEC Bama/Georgia winner in? Not sure how you keep Bama out if they beat Georgia. Texas playing a 3 loss team in the Big 12 title game is not good for them. Lot of football left but Texas is far from a lock getting in right now need other teams in front of them to lose. I want OSU undefeated. Washington/Oregon winner. FSU undefeated and than Bama beats Georgia and they committee has to chose Bama or Texas. Texas beat them but that was week 2?
Next year, Venerables will have some of his own recruits in the program. Looking forward to finishing up this season,
2024 our first year into the SEC will present new challenges in the most competitive conference in D-1.
Rah Oklahoma, OK U!
.
Jonathan Brooks (UT’s lead back) is out for the season with an ACL tear so that certainly doesn’t help them next week but I feel like there’s at least a decent chance either Texas or OSU loses one over the next two weeks.
Houston is bad but UCF wasn’t much better and they throttled OSU. The game is in Houston and you know Dana Holgerson will pull out all the stops. I could see OSU dropping this one. If they win they will likely go to the CCG as I don’t see them losing to BYU at home the following week.
A more likely scenario is that Texas loses this Saturday at Iowa State. The game is at night and the fans will be crazy - it will also be cold and Texas won’t have Brooks. If they make it out with a W they are likely going to the CCG.
I'd love to see Texas left out of the CCG and another Bedlam. It's still possible - we'll know more after this weekend when OU goes to BYU, OSU goes to Houston and Texas goes to Iowa State.
The Animal has spent the last hour going over CCG possibilities. There's actually still one that would put OU vs K-State. It would take OU and KSU winning out, OSU and UT losing both games and ISU and KU losing one game. Way out there but apparently still possible on paper.
really only 3 things matter for OU (as long as OU wins the next 2 games)
UT loses OU is in
osu loses OU is in
Cinn upsets KU in the final and KSU/UT win out
KSU/OSU/OU tie for 2nd and OU wins that 3 way tie breaker via the win over ISU
and actually osu has a very difficult road to the big 12 championship game in any event ..
