Wish this project moves as fast as OAK, but we'll get there. It's great to see progress made everyday around the city.
Anticipated opening is Spring 2025. Looks like they are working on the 8th floor--will top out at 11 stories.
7th floor by my count (6 completed). Wish it will be higher than 11.
Hopefully we'll see another hotel or two eventually, I predict this will be a HUGE score for OKC; we don't do enough to promote OKC's UNIQUE native/indigenous heritage - which a LOT of people worldwide are more interested in than Western/Cowboy culture (which other cities do a better job at - FTW, Dodge City, Wichita come to mind).
Oklahoma City, the RENAISSANCE CITY!
This probably more has to do with type of structure. All of the OAK structures currently going are cast-in-place concrete or wood. Those materials are easier to procure, hence more visible progress. I bet the other OKANA structures are heavy structural steel which takes longer to coordinate and deliver.
FAM will be collaborating with OKCMOA on this exhibit, too:

The multi-sensory experience combines glass, video, and audio to tell the story of Raven, a creator figure in Northwest Coast Native American culture, who was the giver of the stars, moon, and sun. Raven takes visitors on a transformative journey through darkness into light. In addition to Singletary’s striking glass pieces, the exhibition features storytelling paired with original music, coastal Pacific Northwest soundscapes, and video.
Beautiful pics Pete.
Seems like were close to seeing all the steel go up for convention and event center along with waterpark. I bet the concrete guys working on the tower will move on to parking garage once it gets topped off.
Man that last photo really shows the vacant and under-utilized land in the area.
If the movie, 'KIllers of the Flower Moon' has the success as anticipated, Oklahoma may really see a multitude of visitors who are interested in native American culture. I wouldn't be surprised if the OKANA resort has strong visitor numbers for a while if it ties into the success of the movie.
FAM will be the main attraction in the short term.
I’m really looking forward to the release of this movie, and glad that it was made in the first place. That said, I’m not so sure that it will be convincing a lot of people to visit Oklahoma.
I just picked up the book and am planning to read it before the movie comes out. I don't recall ever learning about the horrible event in school but learned about it when the book was released. I want to see how true they keep the movie to it.
Dude, it's a Martin Scorcese film, and some say it may rival or even top his best works. Taxi Driver. Raging Bull. After Hours. Goodfellas. The list is unprecedented as he is the greatest living filmmaker.
From another standpoint, there aren't a lot of realistic depictions of Native Americans in Hollywood, which has a shameful legacy in that regard. Killers was rewritten several times and produced and directed with the full participation and blessing of the Osage Nation.
It's an interesting story that will appeal to a broad swath of filmgoers around the world, and, if it's as good as advertised, will be watched repeatedly for years in the future. How many times have you watched Goodfellas? Casino? Hell, even Taxi Driver, which is admittedly hard to watch? I don't know about you but I've watched Wolf of Wall Street at least three times. I've probably watched Goodfellas a dozen times or more.
This is a story that few people know about, much like the Tulsa Race Massacre until the last few years. The fact it happened the same year as Greenwood's genocidal destruction says so much about Oklahoma's viciously cruel and racist past. It's almost too much to think about.
The central point here is that this film has drawn absolutely rave reviews and will be a likely Academy Award winner. It will have a lot of staying power, much like Scorcese's other great films do.
lol Scorsese is hardly the greatest film maker ever. He’d barely make the top five IMO and I love Scorsese but the top ever? Seriously?

Point being, only a sith speaks in absolutes. Scorsese makes top 5 for Taxi Drvier, Goodfellas, and Wolf of Wall Street alone. Anything else is gravy.
Saying he is the greatest ever is still absurd. Like I said, it’s debatable about being in the top five and even that is a huge accomplishment. I love Scorsese films. For me The Departed is one of my favorite movies of all time and having Martin Sheen never hurts.
I’d place Kubrick and Coppola above Scorsese though.
