Also, how many of you remember the old Cattlemen's Drive-In? There were some rather "seedy" things that used to go on around there.....How about the Agnew Hardware store....You could find anything there including a swift slap up against the head (being a kid) by the owner if you picked something up and didn't put it back right...those were the days.....could you imagine the manager at Wal-Mart popping you up against the head today?
Cattleman's Drive-Inn turned into a Bar-B-Que joint for a few years in the early seventies and then was tore down and they built the Paddock Club. Sherri's diner was originally "The Monterey House" which was built new on that site and was part of a chain of Mexican restaurants.....I use to eat at "The Monterey House" on a weekly basis. I asked Sherri the other day how long it had been gone and she said 20 years. I thought it would have been longer than that..Maybe she's been there 20 years and it set vacant for some time, I don't remember...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------Man, you are digging back in your mind for that one. My Grandfather always banked there. I always wonder how they (the tellers) were able to see out of that. I also remember the old Stockyards Coliseum before it burned. That building would have been about your time and era. Do you remember when we had the Scout-a-Rama in the old Coliseum? Those were the days.....
Oh yeah, did you know the Buckley family on the southside?

I remember it was a woman's name....And, we missed you and your bride....you have to be there on the 15th, you are the guest speaker.....
Well I don`t know about guest speaker, there might be a few folks falling asleep diring that stirring speach. I remember the last name of the family, it was VANHORN. There dress shop was over by the ACROSS THE STREET restaurant then they packed up and moved to the dodsons shopping center on 59th.

I sold a bunch of them when I was with TG&Y (On the Southside) but can't remember the name...How about the Chicken STIX...Do you remember when TG&Y used to Fresh roast their peanuts and Cashews?

When I was a stockboy with TG&Y the lady that roasted them would always make me a CARE package of Cashews if I would clean up her mess.....Boy, was that worth it....Hot Salted Cashews for a few HOURS of back-breaking work....What other candies are we missing from our old Southside Childhood memories....Anyone?
Man I forgot all about those wax bottles, me and my brother would walk across may avenue to the tg&y on 59th and and get those and then when empty chew on the bottles for hours.

Here's a good one, ( a little bit away from Southside):..Can anyone out there tell me what AMC Stood for.....Really stood for......Not American Mutual Co. and where did it start in OKC?.....any stories about the Comet or Rocket Sakting Rinks...After Agnew shut down on the southside, these were the places we had to go to. And, to heck with you big guys that used to run over me...but, I'd still like to hear stories about these places...
