I love to see that whole shopping center demolished and a Crest put there. I know, I'm dreaming. lol
I don't see why they wouldn't I don't think they would really be competing stores anyways. Does the May and 122nd Homeland compete with the one at May and Britton?

Yes, I'm sure the May and 122nd would see a lot more business if the nicer May and Britton store didn't exist, but Uptown Grocery appeals to a different demographic than that Buy for Less.

But this isn't bad here. Parking has to go somewhere as we all know.
The Edmond and Village locations are just stores. 23rd is part of a much larger development. That might have something to do with it.

If the Homeland at May and Britton didn't exist, I'd drive to Sprouts just to avoid the store at 122nd/May. That store is just awful.

As far as the Britton Homeland, they did make a lot of nice changes in addition to the cosmetic stuff. They added a pretty nice cheese area, as well as a lot of "healthy" snack dispensers. They also changed the branding on their meat, which is one area I think got worse. I really used to like getting my steaks at that Albertson's, but now it's difficult to find a thick cut of beef for grilling.

Can't you ask a butcher to cut what you need?

Or buy a decent chunk of beef or pork and cut it up yourself, exactly as you want it.

Have to admit: I'm planning another Saturday Morning excursion to The OSU Farmers Market to do something akin to that.
A little bit of the Semi-Organic Well Cared for Chicken (two different forms)
Some of the Lamb from a related source.

No kidding: There really is a difference in quality and the couple of extra bucks you pay is worth it.
    At least in my opinion.
Last time we were there, on a miraculous Saturday morning off, we bought some really fresh produce.
Made the best Ratatouille to date then finished it off with some extra good Veggie Lasagne a couple of days later.
The informal deal between my wife and I was: No Waste.

Tomorrow, it's the Designer Pasta--with some excellent, Store Bought pasta dressing--and either Scallops ala Gulfport or Chicken Sausages ala Buy For Less. =)

Or maybe some Tilapia con Lemon and Chef Paul. =)
With those pesky fresh dug carrots still lurking in the produce drawer.
And some herbs from the rear patio garden. =)

p.s. ljbab728: none of that means that I'm not still missing my local Braum's. within easy walking distance. =)
If "Uptown" moves to The Village I will stick with Homeland or Buy For Less.
When I don't have time to drive, on a leisurely Saturday morning to The Farmer's Market.

I'd like to retract something I said in the last "paragraph", above: Going back to the top of this thread, I noticed that the proposed location of this grocery store is where the abandoned luxury car dealership used to be, across from the Colonnade. This actually does put it within the city limits of The Village. The Village lost sales tax dollars when Albertson's--later Homeland, later ramped up and customized Homeland--moved south of Britton Road. If this project actually happens, I will be spending my grocery dollars there because I'm loyal to my adopted hometown. You may ask: "So, why don't you shop at the Walmart Neighborhood Market, then? It's in the Village." The answer is. my nearly pathological distain for anything Walmartian. Even Civic Loyalty has its limits.

I've done that, and the meat just isn't worth it. I've started going to Kamp's, and I've been very pleased with the meat I've gotten there. It, too, costs a lot more than the packaged meat, but it's worth it to me.

EDIT: I should have mentioned previously Albertson's used to have very good cuts of meat in their packaged section, at reasonable prices. It seems all I can get from the butcher is about twice as much per pound, but I admit I may just be stupid. I was getting all of my meat at Sam's, but found my wife and I were wasting a lot because of the volume (buying 4 steaks when we could have really split one). Kamp's costs about as much for one big steak as I was spending on 4 at Sam's, but the quality is very noticeably better.

I need to try the farmer's market some time. It sounds like a good thing, and I don't mind paying a bit more for good stuff.

Not sure if it's at all relevant, but there are a lot of "Commercial" leasing signs along May just north of Britton on the west side of the street, indicating plans to develop the empty lots near the street. Anyone have any idea what is planned for that?

Could the signs be for the additional retail space that will be built along with the grocery store?

There are a few empty spots in the shopping center on the NW/C of Britton and May facing south. Maybe it is for them?

Anything's possible, but these signs are on the empty lots, which would indicate separate commercial properties on the lots, specifically, rather than tied to the grocery store. However, it could just be the lots will be developed in the same project as the grocery store. I really don't have any clue. I live in that neighborhood west of may, so I was curious if any information was available, since you and the folks on this board seem to have a pretty good handle on upcoming projects, and I wasn't sure about opening a new thread for it.

I kind of doubt it. It doesn't seem like there are that many spots left in that center, and they seem to keep the leasing information in that square, rather than spreading several blocks north.

Lot of site clearing going on the last week or so. Should have it all torn up in the next couple of days if not sooner. On my way back to work, I saw one of the excavators knocking down light posts. I am sure they will have to dig down for the foundation but work seems to be moving along rather briskly.

I thought about what you said and sorry for getting back a month later but now I know what you are talking about. The Commercial leasing signs are not close to Britton like several I had seen, they are north of the bank that was the old Jackie Cooper dealership on the west side of the street. These lots back right up to the neighborhood to the west. The signs are on pretty much all the lots north of the bank to Sun and Ski sports. It looks like there is about six lots about they size of one of the homes in that neighborhood. Not sure what outside of a small strip shopping center could be built there.

Drove by this morning and it looked like they were digging deep and wide footings around the area. They might be going all the way in though and have just started. Pete, have they applied for building permits yet that you can tell?

This project is for The Village and they don't have an on-line permit system.

I've called the city's office a couple of times in the past but they haven't been very helpful.

More dirt work today. Looks like they poured some gravel for large trucks to enter off of Berkshire on to. I suspect they could start digging down for foundation work in the next few weeks.

I know there was discussion about if they will provide online shopping. Well buy 4 less is beginning online shopping and pickup service at the nw expressway location in sept

Snapped these from the car this morning. The pictures aren't great quality, but you can see that they're still doing dirt work.

I don't know if it's because I drive by this everyday, but it seems to be moving very slowly. Projected finish date was spring of 2015, right?
